The axe finally fell. It was only a matter of time, I suppose. And while many of you may try to spin this to make SOE look bad, apparently this wasn't really their doing. You see, SOE doesn't own Sigil. It doesn't own Sigil now and they won't own them tomorrow. But they do own Vanguard. What fate awaits that game? I don't know. Don't particularly care either.

But I do know that at approximately 4:30PM today, Sigil employees were told to meet outside. At which point they were terminated. On the spot. By whom? Doesn't seem to have been Brad McQuaid, if it was, nobody is talking. But that doesn't seem like something he'd do. But I suppose the executioner is irrelevant since most folks secretly want it to be SOE and it wasn't. As it stands, people were told to come back tomorrow to do their paperwork and some may get hired by SOE.

I contacted SOE since I'm not in the business of burning bridges or spinning news and they had this to say:

"...an announcement is forthcoming tomorrow."

I can only hope the rumor mill blew details out of proportion.

If it didnt, I'd like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the Sigil team. That said lets keep our eyes on the SoE press site tomorrow and not speculate too extensively until we see official word.

Have at em boys. not sure who/why things happened they way they did. Don't really care actually. I *do* feel sorry for every single staffer who got axed. Getting let go is never easy - even if they *might* get hired again

I'll stick around a while longer, but I'm all of a sudden darn glad I haven't bought that second account... guess I could always play CoH.... *shrug*

This makes a lot of sense. It will be sad if it is true and most of the employees were let go but this was to be expected as this is the norm with any acquisition.
Hopefully we will still have our QA.

I don't think any of us could actually be surprised by this. With any acquisition their are going to be changes and this is oft not in the form of personnel.

And while it sucks for those let go, it will hopefully be a good thing. The game could not continue as it has been going, with the changes in staff/owner ship what not their is a chance the product will pull through. Brad had even mentioned they needed help and that they could not do it with out soe coming to their aid. He also talked about wanting to pick up some of the wow population as the BC high fades. Unfortunately this is not something they will manage to do with any real success at least based on the polling of the customer base I have.

This ultimately I hope will be the turning point for the game, or the ending of it. Either way, a change needed to be done. For those let go I hope ya'll can find something soon to replace this job I do not wish to see any one struggle so you have my condolences good luck.

I guess we don't know what the future will hold for VG but, I do want to thank Asquinol and Namdarie for making the test server a blast to play on these last months. You guys cared and it showed. I wish you guys all the best and thanks for the fun. I really hope it all works out for you guys and everyone else that worked so hard on this game.
