Gold Sellers: Questions and Answers
*we sat in the dim light of an old and favorite dungeon. Quiet. Dead quiet, but with far-away occasional sounds of running feet and cries of anguish. I watched the Lady's face closely and couldn't help chuckle to myself as her eyes gleamed at the sounds. Some things never change.....*
Thank you, m'Lady, for this time. I'll make it brief as possible!
Q: Can you please give us the official stance regarding gold farmers/sellers/buyers in a nutshell?
While the EULA is the official legal document pertaining to this area, I will try to put it all in a single sentence for everyone.
You may not market, solicit, promote, advertise, commit, or assist with the act of buying, selling, trading, or transferring of items, accounts, characters, services, or access for any currency, item, object, account, character, services, or access of any other game, or real world currency or possession of value.
Q: Who are you going after the hardest, and why?
Any company or individual who violates the spirit of this game is on our list of people to try to remove from Vanguard. We do not try harder against one group over another, simply working together to try and be a safe haven for players who do not want RMT in their game.
Q: Why do you think this has become such a huge issue (other than people like to make money)?
The RMT companies try to make you believe they care about the players, and are offering a service to assist them. This could not be further from the truth. They only care about the money that the activities bring in, not the characters they corrupt, not the economies of realms that they manipulate, not the spirit of the game that they destroy, or the legal documents that they violate.
It is a greed driven issue that will continue to be a problem as long as players continue to provide a market for them to exist.
Some of the industry’s greatest minds have openly spoken out against the damages that RMT bring to the online worlds. 2 specific interviews that come to mind are Brad McQuaid’s interview, as well as Mark Jacob’s interview. Both of these can be easily found by Google searches.
Q: Would you ever take a, "I didn't know it was wrong! I don't read forums," as an excuse?
Every single person who enters the game is bound by the End User License Agreement, regardless if they read it, or understand it. We do not take excuses when it comes to RMT, and have a very clear “No Tolerance” policy against it.
Q: How long (typically) does it take to bust someone?
Not long, our player base is so against the corruption of RMT that they turn in most solicitations and offers as soon as they receive them to a GM. We turn around and terminate the access of that account, and all accounts that we can match to it.
Q: How many of you actually work on this?
The priority of Customer Support Team remains with aiding and assisting the players with issues that prevent them from enjoying the game. The frontline of Support consists not only of the Game Masters, but also the Knights of the Crimson Fellowship. Between them, they probably are nearing 100 individuals dedicated to helping players who need assistance.
The Enforcement Team consists of the Game Marshal (Daegarmo), and a Game Master (Kardoras). We are responsible for all investigations, enforcement issues, internal affairs, RMT issues, and EULA breaks. This team has removed over 700 sellers, farmers, buyers, hackers, dupers, and macro users since release.
Q: For someone considering buying from a seller/website, what would you like to really tell them?
Experience the game the way it was meant to be played as designed and intended by our development team. By purchasing items, coin, or levels, you miss out on so many great adventures and experiences. Do not cheapen the experience by paying someone else to live it for you.
Q: Anything you'd like to tell potential farmers/sellers?
You are not welcome in Vanguard, please go to another game.
Q: Have we missed any key element that should be covered?
Buyers of coin, buyers of items, and buyers of power-leveling are also being found by our team. Those requesting such services will share the same fate as those offering it. We have been, and will continue to take action upon the buyers as well as the sellers.
*I rose and bowed my head in respect, thanking Dae for the favor of the time, but as I looked up, she had vanished as quietly as the wind. Thank you again, Daegarmo! You are appreciated!*
