ViewsHarvestingFrom Vanguard WikiSpheresHarvesting is a general sphere available to all players. It is the process of collecting resources to be used by crafters.
[edit] OverviewHarvesting in Vanguard is as wonderfully in-depth as the three major spheres. You can acquire tools and attire to assist in harvesting. You can choose two harvesting skills, labeled primary and secondary for convenience; if you change your mind on your choices, you can speak to a trainer to learn different skills, however you lose all knowledge of your previous skills. [edit] GearAppropriate harvesting tools are required in order to harvest specific resources. Better tools are handy if not necessary to harvest harder nodes as well as produce better results (rare resources). You store your harvesting tools in a harvesting toolbelt in your harvesting equipment menu, which is accessed via the character screen (C) by clicking on the wheat icon (below the anvil). As with tools, harvesting clothing is available in Vanguard. While not necessary -- as one could harvest naked, not recommended -- this attire makes your job as a harvester easier. more effective, and more fashionable. [edit] Harvesting Information[edit] TiersHarvesting is broken up into tiers. These tiers correspond with appropriate tools and attire for harvesting. They also correspond to a level of resource.
[edit] InstructorsHarvesting Instructors help you start harvesting as a novice, get certified for your next tier in a particular skill, and change skils (becoming a novice in a new skill). [edit] SkillsAs aforementioned, you can choose two harvesting skills to train, labeled primary and secondary; with consistent practice, you can achieve the same results with both skills. You gain skill in these areas by harvesting the specific types of nodes each skill implies. Before you can harvest in a new tier (once you have a high enough skill), you must unlock the tier by purchasing a training manual from a Harvesting Instructor or some Harvesting Supply Vendors; this also raises your skill cap to top of the next tier. They can also help you change your Harvesting Skills (start the new skill at 0).
In addition to your primary and secondary skills; you also have a general harvesting skill. This skill is used when you are helping a group member harvest a node that you do not have the skill to harvest on your own. [edit] ResourcesCrafters require specific resources in order to create their goods. Artificers work with wood, stone, and gems (found from stone). Outfitters use textile plants and leather pelts acquired from animals, and blacksmiths work with metal. There are two denominations of each resource type in the land of Telon. The lesser of these are parts of whole resources, which can be combined into a whole resource that a crafter can use. You must have a stack of 20 or more of the parts to combine into one whole. To do this simple Right Click on the stack in your inventory and choose Combine in the window that pops up. Common sense prevails in the search for resource nodes. Each type of resource is found in typical places.
Sometimes resources can also be harvested from the corpses of magical creatures (e.g., treants). The following table shows the names of the resources at each tier. Rarer resources are sometimes found in more common nodes but sometimes in their own nodes. Common gems are found in common stone deposits and rare gems are found in rare stone deposits and occasionally in the common as well.
[edit] The Harvesting ProcessTo harvest a resource, move the mouse pointer over the resource until the pick-axe pointer is displayed, then right click on the resource. A progress window will appear showing how much time you have left and the current yield. When that is done you can loot the "corpse" of the resource by right clicking when the loot pointer shows. [edit] Group HarvestingHarvesting can be done in groups. There are three requirements:
The main benefit of group harvesting is much better yields. A side benefit is that skill ups are faster if multiple harvesters in the group have the skill associated with the item being harvested. |
