Barding and tack are types of gear for horses. A horse can not wear both at the same time. Barding protects the horse from harm and, thus, boosts a horse's stability. It comes in two varieties: leather and metal. Leather boosts stability without a reduction to speed, while metal barding increases stability more than leather barding but reduces speed. Tack can be used in place of barding to increase speed. Unlike barding, tack increases speed. You can buy both tack and barding from Barding Vendors or from ?? crafters (for the crafted items, the stats are for the highest quality grade).
