Re: The evolution and profit of MMOs
Yup! The GMs in WoW are watching for them like hawks! It's driving folks nuts! Like a huge guild that camps all the spawns and won't let anyone else near them, if ya get my meaning. I'm sure VSoH will be doing the same thing.

Re: The evolution and profit of MMOs
Scary init.
It is impossible to tell the difference between a gold farmer and a genuine player farming for gold, especially if the farmer changes accounts on a regular basis. Only way to stop it. All armor and weapons gained from unsaleable loot. But would make for a strange game. |

Re: The evolution and profit of MMOs
What really got me going was the ninja-looting money farmers, i can remember quite a few on my WoW server.
I was always amazed when the money farmers that appeared in FFXI weren't kicked, we had redappleA etc etc i think i saw up to redappleH. But, square/enix solved this by selling gil offically. |

![]() I was playing my little Undead Warrior and was actually working on a quest in the Barrens. A little gnome came up behind me, and started to kill the little mobs until he got to the big guy that i had my eye on. (And he was for a part of my quest) Mousing over this gnome, I found he was a level 60 Mage. He would gather everything up in one little area and then arcane blast them.. destroying my chances at finishing my quest. He made sure to follow me too, mined everything before I could get to it, looted every chest that I found, killed every mob. If he couldn't get to it before I could, he would train me with another set of mobs from a nearby camp. Being a low level, they would attack me and interrupt my attempts at mining or opening a chest and give him full opportunity to ninja it from me. It wasn't until I recruited a big burly lvl 60 orc warrior to grind him into the grass that he decided to go away. (All gnomes must die )Maybe he was just being a butthead, and playing the "alliance vs Hoard" game. But I don't understand why he would just continue after the first few times he killed me. I would have gotten bored very quickly.

Re: The evolution and profit of MMOs
The Horde vs Alliance PvP was always what ticked me off the most about WoW. The friends I played with always insisted on being on a PvP server.. Which was pretty terrible when it came to trying to enjoy yourself. Once you get to STV, you just give up.. There's no point in trying to stay alive.
And er, Vade, Square-Enix sold gil? I don't recall they ever did. To my knowledge it's only SoE that's picked up on that atrocious trade.

I have not heard anything on how big the world is supposed to be and for that matter I'm not too how big WoW actually was but for people perserver and how big the world was it always seemed too small you couldn't get away from the gold farmers so here's to hoping at the very least the world is big enough to get away from the little rat Bleeps if all else fails
