Final Fantasy XII

...came out yesterday. The first place I looked was selling it for a $12 dollar discount but hadn't gotten a shipment yet. The second place I tried had it in stock but the clerks were convinced the release date was November 6th. I convinced them otherwise (with my mad Diplomacy skillz. )

Played about 8 hours. Thus far the game is frickin' awesome. The story is seems very atypical for a JRPG, I actually got into it immediatley where most JRPGs leave me bored for a few hours after starting. The game lets you know when you have freedom and when you're locked into progressing the story and thus far the transitions have felt very natural.

Ah well, hope it stays the course. Anyone else playing this?

Re: Final Fantasy XII

Ok i ordered the Special edition of FFXII i wont get to play it untill christmas because i promised my wife. However i have read the reviews and viewed a few interviews and the game looks awesome..its supposed to be the best RPG for the year..and many people are hailing it as a 9.5 (out of 10) I heard that money is hard to come by in the game so...dont know about that much yet. But im glad to hear that its comming up to par with what ive read kudos.

I don't know about later but at the moment I have more money than I need. You get trash items and redundant potions you can sell for cash like you would in an MMO. Bounty heads seem to be the other way of getting money.

I received this for my birthday (didn't pay a bit of attention to it, but I heard it was set in Ivalice, which intrigued me - unfortunately, it's the bastardized FFT:A version rather than the proper version).

I'm not far at all, but so far, I like it. It seems quite a bit more difficult than most Final Fantasies (I beat 7, 8, 9, and 10 without dying on the main quest - I have my doubts that I can continue the streak with this one - I love that the enemies do what I'd do - kill the weak folks first).

edit: I like the new icons, Pyro.

Hehe someone noticed. I had to roll back to recolored stock vBulletin buttons for posts since there was no multiquote function when we built the skin and it looked silly to have a different style button right next to the buttons Lycrist did. I did do some photochopping though to keep his cool little envelope on the quick reply button.

Re: Final Fantasy XII

It's pretty good, nice classic series music, good graphics and sound. Fighting is easy to get used to, camera pisses me off, stupid inversed camera, takes some getting used to. Good game but i already know it still won't beat my favorite FF game to date(to me at least), and it's because i'm already annoyed at the lead character.

Re: Final Fantasy XII

FF 12 is getting alot of news coverage. Its very possible that it might actually be better then FF 7, which if it is will be a big big thing.

I saw my inlaw playing the game, and it looks sweet and fresh. Finally a RPG worth playing...although i want to also try tales of the abys because that looks cool too lol.

Re: Final Fantasy XII

Haha, if this gets bigger than FF7, I'll eat my nonexistant hat.

But I have to agree, so far this is one of the best games I've played. Evar. About 7-8 hours in so far

It kind of reminds me of what would happen if you took Vagrant Story, Skies of Arcadia and FF8 and made them have one crazy love child. Considering that all three of those are my favourite RPGs, you end up creating something that appeals to me on all levels.
