While we are on the topic of wow...

If any of you plan on essentially switching from wow to vanguard when it comes out...why?
is it the server team, tech support, game style in general, fact that vanguard is going to OWN wow, ect?

One thing I found interesting is that they said (before /4 went global) that they warned people for spamming before 3 day bans....so, why is it that a friend of mine got a 3 day ban THE FIRST time he did /4, and when his friend spammed on his account, his account got a permaban. I mean, I just wonder...if they dont stick to the rules they themselves set....*ugh* <Insert profanity here>

Im not saying I hate wow enough to stop playing, but I dont love it enough to play more than an hour a day when vanguard rolls around (unless its vg server maintnence day )

Anyway, as you see, I did a poll for it...so even if you dont reply to this, answer the pole please...Im curious

I voted for not sure.

Im playing eq2 not wow, but i have decided to stop playing eq2 when Vanguard comes out.

If Vanguard is stable and interesting and most important - fun, then yes I will stop playing eq2 immediately - if only because I throw myself into a game and have a hard time playing more than one at a time.

I tried that with eq2 and swg - didnt work.

Re: While we are on the topic of wow...

Having played EQ EQ2 and currently WOW, I am looking forward to VG when it comes out. I really feel a lot of people that play WOW will try Vanguard but when they realize how much more hard core gaming it is than WOW I feel many will eventually quit and go back to WOW. That will leave a different type of gamer in Vanguard.....time will tell

Just like EQ and FFXI are still around, WoW will be around for years to come. I doubt it's going away any time soon If anything, the gamespace for MMO choices will just continue to grow.

Re: While we are on the topic of wow...

No game with be the end of WoW. No game is ever the end of any game for that matter.

I have been around MMOs for a while and let me assure you that every new game that comes out is heralded as the end of some predecessor.

EverQuest was sure to be the end of Ultima Online. Everyone said it, every sign pointed to it being true... 10 years later UO is still going.

EverQuest II will surly destroy what is left of EverQuest.. right, right? Well, it didn't.

WoW has not put a single tier 1 MMO out of business yet, and it likely never will.

Vanguard will not compete with WoW for its core subscription base. It is more likely that Vanguard would be the EQ killer than anything else, because of the fan dedication to Brads vision, and his quest to return to many of the glory days, features that we all grew to love and hate about Everquest.

My answer to the above poll is Maybe. Any game with the sheer level of creative innovation that Vanguard has put on the table will get my $50.00 and another $50 for my wife's account. We will log in and give it a solid go. If we like it, we'll pay for a while, if we love it, we cancel other subscriptions.

A lot also depends on the quality of The Burning Crusade. If Blizzard released a dynamic expansion a month or two before Sigil goes live with Vanguard, a lot of potential Vanguard switchers will have already ordered TBC from Santa, and many will wait until the expansion afterglow subsides.

Re: While we are on the topic of wow...

I feel people who do not want depth and scope to their game, will shy away from VG. I truly don't understand that. Sure WoW is a game easily accessible to anyone, but where is the challenge, the community. I never had the chance to get into EQ (mainly I was still in high school and had no money), but I did try it, and enjoyed it immensely. No other MMO since then has captivated as much as EQ did in the begining. Now it seems people want to be able to race to max level, get the best gear, and then fight over and over to see who can beat who. Where is the fun in that? I don't know, maybe I am getting old and want my games the way used to be. Vanguard promises to be that game and more.

Oh and I am converting two WoW players as we speak.

I dont think TBC will be much of a factor really. All indications are pointing at a November release of TBC and a Feb/Mar release of Vanguard. I think that will give people plenty of time to play though a bunch of the TBC content and be just about done with the single group stuff by the time Vanguard launches. At that point it will be back to just the major patches until the next WoW expansion two years later.

Re: While we are on the topic of wow...

As a former EQ player I have to agree that VG will more than likely kill EQ then WoW. Not saying it absolutly will but it's already on pretty thin Ice, The people who still Play EQ don't like the simplistic WoW and are waiting for VG. However Others have no clue VG is even coming out. But I'm telling you when VG is released EQ will feel the absence on there servers. Same happend for EQ2 and WoW. Alot of people were fed up with EQ and were only playing it as a place holder. I'm sure there are people out there doing the same thing as they wait for VG. Both with WoW and EQ, EQ2....ect.
