Re: Everquest : Favorite Expansion
For me, seeing as I started shortly after Kunark and thus missed the biggest expanasion off of that, I loved Scars of Velious, the 3 factions with the giants palying piggy in the middle, the introduction of the Shawl and ring quests, and the idea of doing quests for your god made it great for me but in order:
1 - Scars of Velious - a classic in the golden era 2 - Lost Dungeons of Norrath - real dungeon crawling, died a death too quickly but to do a dungeon from start to finish, then go back and pick up the crates (if your group let you, but I was a Bard by then so could run fast enough to sometimes get away with it.... plus sometimes I hid behind till everyone was out of range and opened the chests I could for free trinkets 3 - Planes of Power If it hadn't killed the size of the world by making Plane of Knowledge a Level 1 zone then it would of been great, it was huge, a good place to hunt and contained some amazing quests and concepts of an entire expansion linking into one ultimate end goal. But when the use of the books to hop around the world became truely prevalant EQ started to die a death and caused the problem of having to direct people from butcherblock to Freeport because PoK was down. No-one knew where anything was in the game anymore.

Re: Everquest : Favorite Expansion
POP most definately. I loved the progression and fighting our way thorugh each of the events and the learning curve. Our guild was the second on the server to clear all the way through plane of time and so a lot of the events we did required us to figure out a strategy. I remember the first time in one of the phases in potime with the damn portals and i accidently went to plane of fear grrr i was so pissed

Re: Everquest : Favorite Expansion
Im going to have to go with PoP, much as I didnt like how it made Wizards obsolete, I did find it to be pretty much the pinicle of EQ success. It added some amazing new zones, and the PoT instancing.

Luclin was a great addon and I loved how they used the moon as a way to expand the "eq universe". ALso tied with it in my book is Planes of Power.. for the same reason.... they found a way to add to the "universe" in a way that made it seem like it was reasonable it was already there.

Re: Everquest : Favorite Expansion
Well, my favorite EQ was the original, non-expansioned version.
I consider Kunark and Velious to be essentially the same quality expansion, but I voted for Velious ultimately. Loved both of them since I think they brought the game into a little better balance. The stories for them were cool, they didn't overdo it with new races since they didn't add one in Velious. I remember how amazing it was finding the lost Coldain town at the bottom of the crystal caverns... pure fun. When the Coldain lost the shawl quest war, having the city despawn all NPCs and respawn with corpses was great, lots of immersion. Just great memories overall. And apologies, but I thought the expansions past that went kind of downhill Although, Sanctus Seru was a really cool city and doing the quest chain up to killing the leader (Dang, forgot his name) was pretty fun.
