EQ2 revisited
I played EQ2 from European Launch for About 12 months got several characters quite high although did not reach cap. got bored mainly when my guild all decamped for WoW and I wasted many hours LFG.
So to the trial. First I was amazed how empty the world is, I guess most players are in high Level zones. only one zone, Antonica, has ever been instanced in the trial period. Not enough people to find groups doing my quests most of the time. Powered up to level 22 in less than a month playing a few hours a night. Admittedly most of the old quests still there but the new radar feature takes away all the effort. All quest givers are shown with yellow circles and completed quest givers filled red blobs so you simply loaded your character with every quest you could find and wandered from zone to zone ticking them off.. no challenge. It is now possible to be strictly solo at least into our 20's. my monk can solo normal mobs 2-3 levels above me and 3 tick greens a few levels lower so still get exp. Tried LFG but rarely got groups mostly I got invited without asking. guilds were not very active in looking for new blood. Did not get into crafting could not sus it out. In order to get started I was asked to make a cup of tea for which I had no recipe and no way could I get the book with it in. apparently it should have been given to me but it was not. I even created a new character to see if I missed something on the starter island. Although my new graphics card allowed me to really beef up graphics options the world still looked grey and flat although I love the water graphics. Overall the game has been made a lot easier and less challenging. I am not a hardcore player by any stretch but Vanguard better be more challenging than EQ2 is now. |
