Yup yup, and my comment about citations was just a reminder for future reference for all. Thanks for finding that though, a good resource indeed. I haven't been able to harvest much myself.

Actually, I would expect to use this thread (since it is the talk page for Harvesting) to document where the data came from. Since we will eventually verify it, I don't think we need actual on-page citations and, since we are using the ideas but not the actual expression, it is not an issue of copywrite.

Along that line, we do need a way to label text taken from the game as:

• Sigil copywrite
• not open for edits

Although what we copy from Sigil is probably free use and unlikely to be objected to anyway, we should clearly mark any copywrited material we copy (for instance, the introductory letters on the race pages).

Wiki is in it's nature open for change, and it's stated when you add content that if you don't want your work edited/changed/removed, then don't contribute.

The reason I said what I said about citing that outside site source was because someone already put in the work to gather that data at another site and I don't want our wiki to become known as the copy/paste gank fest, I guess.

All material from the game is copyrighted by Sigil and we have a general disclaimer for game content, which covers text/screenshots, or should. What would you suggest as a way to mark those passages in an unobtrusive way? Small statement below stating the passage is from in-game?

Goodberries
This item regenerates health of any who eat it.

Phoenix Leaf Flux
A strange combustible leaf found growing by many nearby plants. Flux raises the tempereture of molten ore, when smelting.

Heres some things I found when harvesting nodes and deposits :

Seething Stone
Activates Ability : Seething Stone
This item provides extra damage to any who crush it in their hands.

Alum Mordant
Mordant is used when making dyes.

Resonating dux of Hexes
Enhances 1. Weapons (All)
Enhances 2. Armor (All)
Enhances 3. Focus (All)

Russet Amalgam Cure
Crafting Component
A russet colored substance found in metal ore, that is used in making leather.

These are what I have founds so far. Now we need crafters & adventures to document their actual abillities.

One site I saw put game text in quotes to at least hint that it wasn't original text. I don't know what the right answer is; however, spheres needs to establish a policy for handling game text and pictures that is clear to all contributors and editors (not that I think that Sigil will begrudge us the quotes, its just good practice).

The problem with the disclaimer is that it doesn't actually identify what portions of the site contain copywrite material.

Pirotess needs to make sure we aren't in violation of the Wiki software licencing agreement as well.

An acidic powder that can be found in stone and used in a multi-pupose cleaning solution.

Echo Ore Powder
Enhances Vitality & Wisdom
Tried it, and it adds +2 to Vitality/Wisdom for 5 minutes

As for Wiki software licensing, it uses GNU licensing which is pretty much public domain so I cant imagine having any trouble from that side of the fence.

I think the long and short of it is we just need to avoid blatantly plagiarizing someone elses work because its good ethics and reflects the integrity I want this site to retain. It doesnt take that long to rewrite a passage in your own words and often its a good idea anyway.

I wasn't sure about the Sigil requirements (I tried to find something about the affiliates agreement as I was writing my reply, but where it is covered with the new web sites is beyond me). If you as the site owner and chief legal stuckie are happy, I am happy.
