Benifits of being a warrior.

I can tank!

Most other classes cannot in any circumstance take the punishment we do. We are a neccasary part of a group on that point. Only the Pallies and DKs can even compete.

We are not a dps class. I can not crit for 7k+ at lvl 41 like rangers do or 15k+ like a sorc can. I do crit for 4k+ dmg at times and when i have my ability to chain attacks with oblit/dec/destroy i can maintain a mobs aggro in offencive stance while contributing a singnificant amount of dmg.

I am a group dependant class.

Thats why i chose the role of a warrior. I can solo 2 dots my lvl or 2 lvls above me. I can grind them out for less exp then i would in a decent group, and when groups are scarce thats what i do. When in a group i have not been sidestepped for a tank of another class and have found myself complementing the other defensive fighter classes well. Usually it only depends on who has better ac/def as to who is main tank, since we can both pull aggro off each other as needed with specials.

I am not a CCer.

I can hold 3-4 mobs on me, at any given time if i have a good healer and everyone else in the group knows thier responsibilities more is possible but you increase the margin of error. It is not advised to go into a dungeon that is going to have more then 3-4 aggros at any time, without the proper group setting, nothing can prevent the loss of aggro in this game, even with CC mobs are going to attack. With 2 healers and a CC this is less a problem for when we are tanking/off tanking and another healer can handle the odd hits on the squishies. Or if your group is unable to cut down the mobs at a decent rate no aggro maintenance you or your healer or CCer has will make up for it. If you arent holding aggro on a single mob pull there is either something wrong with your gameplay or your groups, dps class have to understand your role as a tank and thier role as dps. You must maintain aggro for it to be consistent, on off lvls before we get our aggro skills increases we are horrible and you need to make sure that the group understands that you need a few seconds to establish control.

I am Badass!

Before patches after patches whatever, you have the ability to overcome your inability to function. You are a warrior, thats what it means. Granted there are alot of issues facing the class and the game as a whole, but if your not willing to try to overcome challenges do you really deserve the title?

I agree with some of your points but for the most part you just made a completely different arguement.

You should essentially change the title of your thread to...

"Benefits of a Defensive fighter".

Sinnce I can't seem to find anything in your post that is Warrior specific.

Well, er, yeah.....because they are the other two Tanks, it's like taking the extremely broken Tuurgin Shaman class and comparing their healing ability to a Paladin, of course the Paladin can't compete.

I applaud your enthusiasm and understand where you are coming from but peoples complaints are based within the defensive fighter archtype, and you will never find a defensive fighter saying any other archtype can tank better, steal aggro maybe, but not tank.

Heh, take a trip to Rahz Inkur in about 7 or 8 levels and then come back to me with that.

There are some pulls of 5x 5 dots and everything is immune to CC, two healers struggle to keep a tank up with 2x 5 dots on them, never mind the extras.

I appreciate the reply Pudsley, The post was intended to differentiate between other options in general. I am not a necro because i dont want to solo. I am not a ranger because.. well personally I like being front and center. I was trying to show the benefits all around not just between just defensive classes.

I havent played another defensive class, so i could not really comment on how fun/unfun they are. Personally have grouped with other defensive classes and are envious of thier abilities. The ability to heal or lifetap is temendous. Especially if you are grouped with just a pally, as a warrior and he is playing the main roll as healer, as that hapens when you stumble upon some solo quests that neither class are particulairly geared towards. Beats eating eggs.

As far as me being the primary option for CC well yeah, I cant CC for shit but niether can a pally or DK or ranger or necro or druid etc, and in the case of having 5x5dots that are not CC able i guess we are all glad that there are more tanks out there whether they are DK, Pally, or Warr, basically as long as the only other one in plate isnt your cleric.

Note: I am appreciative for everyone that is complaining about the warrior class, we have seen alot of improvement, especially in defensive stance. I myself hae had to scramble aroun clicking buttons and had problems but please use some tact when doing so. The class as a whole is righteous,, no wait thats a a pally,, nm we are just badass and i dont want to play another. If you have something to complain about please do so, but have a point to make. By this point in the game i think we have weeded out people that were expecting Diablo style warriors that could hack and slash through 5 mobs toss down a heal potion and keep going. That simply isnt the style of game we all play.

Warrior Forums = the self-help forums

I wanted to play a warrior, and did for a while, but they were too broken.

I have spent hours typing away trying to get people to recognize the downfalls of the warrior class. I think it's stupid that they have made them so much the red-headed-step-child of the tanking classes.

It think there are 2 factors that really play into why warriors are so broken.

1. The Devs are honestly trying to make all classes viable and bring some balance... so that Pallies aren't just over-glorified Buffers and Dks might actually be able to tank, not just off-tank weak raid mobs. Unfortunately, they broke warriors really badly.

2. From my experience, most people that play Paladins have no idea how to play the game. In fact, to be blunt, they're idiots... again, most of them. So, for their sake, the devs have been improving the pallys. That has had 2 effects on pallies; the terrible players still can't tank and the good players who know how to build a pally are Uber tanks!

I play a cleric and I can tell you: Warriors are harder to heal. They have better AoE aggro effects than DKs, but that's about their only tanking advantage. They are complex; and even for their complexity, they still don't have the potential of a Paladin.

In all fairness Paladins were THE broken class in the defensive fighter archetype, I know, I played one up until level 30.

At which point I couldnt take it anymore, they dealt non existent damage and had the flat rate worst aggro of all the tanks, my group was holding back so much and still take aggro off me.

Whilst the class was broken I though I'd try Warrior, realised Warrior was more of my style, I've always played Warriors and therefore made the switch.

Paladins subsequently got a much needed very large overhaul and all is well on their side of the fence (more or less anyway), grats to them, they needed it.

No doubt Warriors have come along leaps and bounds with the last two patches, I'm extremely happy with those changes, although personally I find the whole command system to be flawed, it's not fun or rewarding for the Warrior, it's barely noticed by the group as a whole.
