Best Bang for Your Buck
Wanted to pose a question to my fellow warriors. What am I better off spending some coin on? Armour or a really nice weapon?
I seem to have noticed MUCH better agro generation by upgrading my weapon, especially since we can't increase hate with spells as other tanking classes can. Has anyone large decrease in damage taken when upgrading armour? Also what are some nice Armour & Weapons that you have gotten through quests or drops at different lvls and where'd you find em? |

I went out and bought a caretakers shortsword. Choked me pretty hard but feel I got a good deal on it. Cost me 55silver. Ever since I have gotten in I notice a big difference in aggro.
If all our abilities were fixed like they say they should react. A person could keep a mobs attention with abilities pretty much a whole fight I have noticed. But some if not most aren't working properly. They are getting to it im sure. I just hope it comes soon. I use rescue a lot and there are some things that help as well. I tend to think survivability is key. Long as you can tank your level of mobs and environment rather well, the rest will take care of itself. Mostly getting the new weapon helped me soloing. Seeing as how most of our good attacks are 400% based the higher the weapon dmg the better. Caretakers shortsword drops in HIllsbury off a lvl 21 4dot mob I believe. He isn't overly tough like most of them are. Kind of a rare drop though. But tops out right under 20dps. Good weapon I would say until lvl 25+ Most of the gear I have gotten was from stuff people loot in my guild and cant use and me being the highest warrior they filter it to me which is a huge bonus I did quite a few missives for renton keep and they have some nice gear as well. As well as a couple really nice 20dps+ 2handers.I for one dont use 2handers. I like the defense bonus from shield too much to give it up. Plush the bash attack we get that stuns mobs. My advice get a good weapon and gear, balance the two. Doesn't do anyone much good too have the best aggro if they cant take a hit. And vice versa It doesn't do much good to be the beefiest tank and not being able to hold aggro. Balance it best you can with your funds.

Come to think of it I would go with weapon and I'm not even sure upgrading armor is worth it.
After 3 hours of playtime I'm usually at 0% on all my gear as a tank and am getting no mitigation from anything. We carry on anyways. With the way item deterioration works armor upgrades are almost a complete waste of money. I'm going to start carrying around a 2nd set of armor for when I'm at 0%... but I'm not even sure if that's worth it either. |

Buy a 1hander thats right below your level cap (i.e. 5-6 levels higher than your current exp level). Even if it has crappy stats, the DPS alone is usually better than a 2hander of your current level. Besides, you have a shield for stats. And loosing 30-50hp ain't gonna make you or break you. |
