Maximizing Damage by Weapon
I have a question. Atm when I look at 2 weapons and I see 2 equal damage raiting weapons I see them as even but I got to thinking. We have lots of damage attacks that do as an example weapon damage +40 or something along those lines. Or 4x weapon damage for our finisher.
What exactly is meant by this? Does this mean we do our auto attack damage times 4? If so, doesn't that mean that a slower high damage weapon would be superior to a fast medium damage weapon? It would make our combat arts do more damage. If anyone has tested this please post and let me know. |

Well ive noticed when dual weilding our special attacks give 2 damage numbers, like
your brutal strike I hit xxx for 150 (100 + 50) Im guesing that you get damage from both weapons in this case to make up for the higher damage from a 2 hander, havent studied it enough to know for sure but pretty sure i saw it every time when dwing. |

Yes, while dual wielding, you swing both weapons on any special attacks, and as far as I know, both weapons have a to-hit calculation involved.
And in response to the OP, the way the special attacks are written, it seems they are a lot like WoW where it calculates the dmg by the dmg amount on the weapon, and not the dps. Unless in some way they normalize weapons and average out the dps to give special attack dmg. But the way it's written, slow and hard would work out the best for special attacks.

Our specials definately hit with both hands (not sure about the chain finisher tho) I still ended up grabbing a two handed axe tho since the sum of the damage values of my two one handers were still below the max damage numbers of the great axe. I think its a bit situational and that dual wield with weapons with procs or good +stats on them it would win out but for burst damage when grinding/pvp I think the slowest highest max damage weapons we can get our hands on is going to triumph

OK, I think the example with 2 dual weilds showing 2 damage amounts on CAs sort of confirms that it's based on weapon damage. So slow high damage weapons will do more damage = more hate.
Is there a downside to this? For example, does a slow weapon reduce the frequency of CAs or anything like that? I haven't payed too much attention to delays of weapons so far. What weapons have the largest delays? I'd think maces but really I have no idea. Anyone else done some research on this? |
