Warrior PvP
I love the warrior class in this game and have started a warrior on the PvE RP server and the PvP FFA server. My Warrior is doing great on the PvE side of things but getting slaughtered in PvP.
I do fine with other mele classes and even ranged but arcane casters and healers are smok'n me. Is there hope for warriors in PvP or do I need to rethink what class I play on that server. ANY tips, suggestions, thoughts or pointers would be greatly appreciated. TO BATTLE MY WARRIOR BROTHERS & SISTERS! |

If I were to recommend a defensive tank for PvP right now it would be DK. |

Leap attack did seem to help a bit as did infuriating shot, so I had 2 ranged weapon options for more crossbow shots. Leap attack gave me the abilty to hop arround to confuse my oponent, and to close the gap on runners. Hate to see it go...for PVP anyway. Would be nice if we had a "snare" of sorts, like a hamstring cut or something of that nature. Also seems like our stun doesn't last the legth of time/hits it's supposed to.
For those that are PVPing as a warrior, are you using offensive or defensive? Offensive with a board? 2hander or DW? What are you seeing best results with? I was in defensive and actually did pretty well against a caster, seemed to interrupt them more with shield bash and kick and helped me stand up to first couple nukes better, then went offensive about half way through while still using shield (again helping to interrupt with bash) to up my DPS a little. Still have the problem of basically getting kited though. Any other PVP warriors out there? |

I play a warrior on varking(team pvp server). Currently level 14, rerolled from a 24 sorcerer. When i played my sorc warriors and other defensive fighters were easy prey. Esspecially a warrior that neglected his bow skill. On my sorc i never once had a warrior shoot me with a bow as i kited him around.
Anyway, the other day the temptation of being a plate armored, dual wielding juggernaught of doom got the best of me. So i rerolled to a dwarf warrior. Got him to 12 and went pvping in dark infested lands. I learned alot about warrior pvp. Ill share some of that info... First of all, i didnt just walk into enemy territory unprepared. I made sure all my skills were maxed for the level save kick, it levels so slow. Anyway, thay included my BOW SKILL. Notice i said bow and not CROSSbow. Bow while they dont do as much dmg as a crossbow have longer range. I also use the general good bought arrows that give (+10max range, +5min range). This means that youll have a slightly bigger dead zone from which you cant use your bow, but when people are running or trying to kite you...its a god send when you can shoot your bow from 35m away. While pvping i ran accross many different classes. Healers will be your toughest fight in vanguard. Currently healers esspecially shaman rule vg with an iron fist. Dont be discouraged if you lose ot one in pvp, they are a bit overpowered as of right now. As for casters and offensive fighters, you can pretty much stand agianst any of them 1v1. 2 gets a bit hairy and if 3 is in the equation unless your part ninja like myself forget it... I tried defensive stance but it just leads to you prolonging life without ever doing any dmg to your opponent. Offensive stance is where its at unless your group pvping. Then you can just go into defensive stance, rescue/shield bash people at will. RESCUES DO WORK IN PVP GUYS. They will force your opponent to target you and all that good stuff, so use them! Ok as for what weapons you need to be using. A 2 handed weapon is nice...but its not the best...unless you have some insane heroic/legendary 2hander its not going to be as good as 2 nice DW's. There is a reason warriors are the ONLY defensive fighter that can DW. Think about it. I reccomend geting a swiftblade or 2. The extra crit % really helped out. Ok so now that you have your bow, your in offensive stance, you got your 2 weapons. What do you do now? You kill of course! What do you mean how? Oh you want to hear some tactics do you? Fine... When you rush in on someone its important to know what your fighting so you can react with the right combo. I always open with rend armor reguardless of class. I cannot stress this enough. USE REND ARMOR. make sure its always on your target if you can apply it. After rend armor is applied its time to do some serious dmg. If your fighting a caster all youll need to do is unleash your 1, 2 combo of doom. This combo does serious dmg while stunning your opponent. 1,2 combo of doom: Leap attack, decimate, Stun Battle cry, Leap attack decimate. Owned. Nough said. That caster should be laying on his back if both leap attacks set off the decimate and everything landed. This will be your main combo in pvp. So make sure you set these skills up in easy to reach hotkeys for greater success. You do not want to miss a decimate in pvp. It can mean life and death. Save kick if the combo fails or you need to interupt a cast. Remember its does NOT trigger the global cooldown timer meaning you can kick someone, and hit leap attack immediatly if you have enough endurance to do so. You wont always want to charge into a battle with swords flailing either. USE THAT BOW. I use a 29dmg bow. My range attack hits for 80-100 every hit. My infuriating shot hits for about 180-200. They ARE NOT ON THE SAME COOLDOWN TIMER. Meaning every 8 seconds you can pop off a 200dmg blow followed by a quick 100dmg from ranged. Thats HUGE people. Also if someone is on a horse you can knock them off of it with a bow shot. It may take a couple but it works. Comes in VERY handy. As 12 i had a levle 12 druid try to kite me. The entire fight i used my bow. Just slowly plucking him with 80-100dmg shots. He healed a bit but soon realized that as long as he turned his back and ran i was doing dmg and he was slowly dieing. I enventually killed him only using my bow. That in itself is a testiment to why you need a good bow and maxed range skill. So get to it. Well i was trying to make this a short post but i guess i got carried away. I hope you guys can get past the spelling errors and what not, its late and im half asleep typing all this. Anyway i hope this helps and answers some of your questions about warrior pvp. So to sum things up for Warrior PvP: 1. Dual Wield = the best. 2. Offensive stance is a must, unless in group pvp. 3. BOW IS A MUST Any questions just ask and ill try to answer them if i can... |

I personally like 1h/shield. Shield bash is low end cost, does decent damage, good crit rate to open up Decimate. Against casters the extra stun is big. The improved block chance triggers my L18 counter frequently.
I totally agree the bow is a big part of Warrior pvp. IS does good damage and can sting hard on a crit. I've dropped equal level casters 1/3rd health easy on a IS crit. As for offensive vs defensive I usually use offensive.. losing Decimate/Oblit gimps my ability to hurt anyone. |

Great info so far guys. I'll definately be looking to trade in my crossbow for a bow. And I'll make sure to spend the coin to make it a good one. I don't know why I didn't realise what a difference that could make.
Also thinking of making a mocro outa that combow you mentioned Apple. Or at least either binding them or placing 'em on the hotbar neer each other. Seems like PVP has gotten better for me as I gained a couple of lvls and looks to improve more in the future. Think the giggest problem is getting caught by myself and facing multiple players who usually have a couple lvls on me too. Also rolled a new character for crafting cause I was getting nailed while crafting banking and using the market, now my mule handles all that...he'll never see lvl 7 lol In the last few PVP encounters I've learned to hang with friends whenever I can, always be ready and know the classes you'll be facing as well as they do. Anymore tips suggestions or ideas out there, this was some great info so far, keep it up. Let's make the Warrior a PVP gods by sharing what we learn brothers. |

Having a bow definitely helps a ton. A mage low in health usually can snare and run but with a good bow they are dead. Healers are still very very tough though.
I also can't decide between S&S or 2h or duel. I like em all for different reasons in PvP. The shield bash is so handy but the 2h jump+dec for more damage... I want to be able to switch based on who I am attacking  |

Also wanted to note resists help as well. I loaded up on + spirit resist rings, ear rings, and necklace since the flavor of the month is clerics it seems on the FFA pvp realm. Last night two level lower paladin jumped me, I am 12 he was 10, as i was hunting. I hit Dwarf racial ability, rend armor, leap attack, chain, battle stun repeat with a kick thrown in dropped him. When ever he would dance outside melee range I would pop him with my bow.
I resisted a few of his range spells completely and the rest had limited damage. Maybe other warriors he has fought have been easy prey because I am not sure why he would think he could gank me even though he was two levels lower. Anyway dont neglect your resists. With max con added it will make a difference. Everything I read about warriors in PVP had me thinking I was going to be a sitting duck. So far, even though I am in an extremely small Dwarf only guild, Ive been able to hold me own verses all. Clerics being the hardest.
