Why stick around as Warrior.. not the DPS powerhouse we were
With DK out DPSing Warrior why should we stick around? It seems that the DK has more utility than the warrior, and now the DPS is gone. The hate gen seems the same [if not in favor of DK., can someone correct me on that?
Another post, adds some good insight I think. Quote:

I saw a 10th level bard tank 6 even con bandits (1-dot mobs) yesterday, no way my warrior could take more than 3 at 11th level. Admittedly, it took him forever to kill them, I'm guessing he had an instrument equiped and was using fists. Somehow, I don't think that's quite working as intended. ![]() My point being, Vanguard was rushed out the door and classes just aren't very balanced right now. It is, I think, too early to read too much into the current data, things will change a lot over the next 2 months. Trying to follow the 'flavor of the month' at this point is an excersize in futility. |

I just hope they take notice of these things, so we can have the balance required. Every class needs their own identity, and they each need to contribute something the others cant in balance, or that class will suffer. |

In defensive mode using only defensive abilities + kick & shout of fury, you should have no problem keeping agro on any encounter. If you're competing with a higher tank in the group, then you can forget it. The agro generated with each level is immense.
Furthermore, you say that our DPS is gone? Our DPS is far from gone. We have plenty of DPS as long as you chain together your abilities in the proper way. |

He isn't kidding either. You think Dread Knights are out DPSing you? I group with Tazzrin regularly and he smokes my DPS. We are wearing nearly identical gear and we are both seasoned veterans of MMOs. The DK just got completely neutered in the DPS department. We had 2 of our most damaging abilities put on long timers and had our biggest DPS buff/debuff completely jacked. Warriors are currently cream of the crop for the group tank position, if this doesn't hold true for you, then perhaps you should reevaluate your play style.

Of course there will be a downside to our great group tanking...soloing. The other two tank classes (Pally & DK) dwarf our ability to solo.
Also, I find soloing in defensive form much better than doing so in offensive. Taunting strike can be spammed very efficiently and can dish out some very nice damage. Especially when you have dex maxed out, your abilities will crit out like mad. |

Excellent feedback guys, I know its early on in the game, but I just wanted to post up my thoughts when I read the news. I know they will keep things balanced, but I just wanted to make sure they keep the warrior DPS and group edge there as they promised early on.

And lets not forget that gear makes a huge difference. I was lucky enough to buy a grade A Sentry Greatsword for my level 11 warrior. It does ~14 dps and has +22 strength (crafted copper sword). With it I was able to solo 3 dot level 9 spiders in Rindol Woods, which would otherwise have pwned me. No doubt warriors are going to be among the most gear dependent classes, if not THE most gear dependent class.
At the present time, armor doesnt make that much difference due to the mitigation bug introduced at the end of open beta. (Im sure that will be fixed before long.) But your weapons do make a big difference in terms of your dps (obviously). For those interested in a Sentry Greatsword, you will need either 4 or 6 attuning dusts of strength, and a level 15+ weaponsmith. I have a level 13 weaponsmith, but there is no way he could make a grade A version of this sword. So I bought mine from someone who could. Its better than anything Ive seen drop at these levels. |
