Yeah I believe that chains have to be completed in consecutive hits. This means that if you open the chain, but are too busy pummelling power attack (or some suitably spammable ability) to notice, then it will simply close the chain since you broke it before you could even get it going. I'm going to have so much fun with this game. |

I think what everyone dont understand is that wrack on a dreadknight does NOT NEED TO CRIT to open up the next finishing move. they simply need to land a regular hit with wrack to open the third and fourth finishers. the same is true for ranger.
why should the warrior have to crit on every hit when other classes do not |

Chains and how they trigger?
So is this correct so far?
Offensive stance: 1. Any basic attack that crit can start a chain? 2. At low levels there are only 2 step chains? Basic crit attack + finish attack in a chain attack? 3. At higher levels there will be 3 step attacks? Basic crit + bridge crit + finish attack in a chain attack? Defensive stance: 1. Chains are mostly initiated by a defensive ability as dodge or parry etc? 2. Depending on wich defensive move was performed different chain attacks will be available? Could someone please confirm this is how things are intended or explain VERY LOGICAL AND CLEAR how chains are implemented in to the game. /Tiny |

Offensive 1) No. It has to come from an Ability as far as I'm aware. And some abilities have an higher innate Crit rate then others. See Leap attack and Kick for example. 2) Correct. 3) Not for warriors, not that i know of anyway. There will be multiple add ons to Decimate however, through Obliterate and Destroy I think it's called. I wouldn't really refer to Decimate as a bridge in that event however. Defensive 1) Yes. 2) It's similar to offensive, in the sense that you may trigger a Finisher based on a crit from certain abilities.

Is there an in-game indicator of which attacks are openers and which are finishers? I can't seem to identify this in the ability text.
Right now I'm only lv 6, maybe I just haven't gotten any of them yet? PS. My first post after lots of lurking! I just started VG a couple days ago and am having a great time, although performance is a bit dissapointing. Fell free to send a tell in-game, the name is "Jah Ras" on Woefeather ![]() |

The tooltip should list whether it's a Finishing Attack, Counter Attack, or Rescue.
Openers are, if I remember right, Brutal Strike, Devastating Blow, Rend Armor, Kick, and Leap Attack. It's possible there are more however, or it might even be all of them?
