Warrior Macro's and a Question?

macro that I think will be good for Warriors to have. Now this is assuming that you have your healer listed as your defensive target.

/assist %td
/cast "Taunting Strike"
/cast "Enraging Shot"

This macro will target the mob attacking the healer and cast a High hate attack on that target. The second attack line is that if the target is out of melee range you cast a hate ranged attack on the target, thus hopefully pulling the target off of the healer.

/assist "tank name"

A simple assist macro to make sure I am o the same target as the tank.

/g Incoming <item=00000::0,0,0,>%to</link>
/cast "Enraging Shot"
/cast "Taunting Strike"

A pulling macro, announces what is incoming along with a Hate ranged attack to actually pull with, Followed by a melee attack if they are in range. Targets name appears in Purple link color.

/g A <item=00000::0,0,0,>%to</link> is now ready, help me kill it before it kills me.

Hot key to let everyone know when aggro is gotten and target is ready to attack. This will be more useful on boss mobs, but may be a good habit to practice with more mundane mobs also.Targets name appears in Purple link color.

Now the question , I have not had a chance to try the ones out with both the ranged aggro attack and the melee aggro attack in them. I know spell chains do not work in macros for Vanguard. However since these are different attacks and one or the other will fail due to the range of the Target , will this work where if target is out of range for a melee attack, that it will default to the ranged attack?

Thank you.

Edit: Either my typing or spelling sucks badly. Not sure which yet!

Thanks for enlightening me on how to change the color of my messages. This will come in handy for making my specific calls stand out to the group.

Tried these last night and they work as intended. However they are also for full groups while you are in defensive stance.

Re: Warrior Macro's and a Question?

The first one Will not target the mob attacking the healer. It will assist your defensive target AKA /assist Target defensive (%td), the healer could be targeting anything. I highly suggest just makeing a /cast taunt /cast Shield Bash + cast taunting strike for the best agro macro you can get.

Other macros are sound. But IMO you shouldnt say stuff like "this macro will target the mob attacking the healer." Since not all people will have the option to change there offensive target when they get hit. I know i dont.

Not sure if this was mentioned before, but I was screwing around with macros the other day and discovered a way to guarantee hate gain on the warrior(as in, it has yet to fail me).

For instance, my macro looks like:

/cast "Shield Bash I"
/cast "Taunt II"
/cast "Taunting Strike II"

It has to go in that order due to timers. If you cast in any other order, you won't get them all off. Shield bash does not affect the timers of the other two. While, if you do taunt first, it won't affect Taunting Strike, but it will affect Shield Bash. And Taunting Strike affects all 3.

So pulling with Infuriating Shot, then pressing the above macro when the target is in range(and if you have enough endurance) will guarantee you aggro 98.99% of the time on pulls. I leave the 1.01% in there as a buffer zone for unforseen situations =P

It's almost a rescue at times.

Maybe my wording could have been changed. However with the group I play with, this has never failed to work. Though I do not use these in quite the way i did in Beta when this was posted.

The easiest way to keep the healer alive is to use other abilities we have at our disposal. We have rescues, and attacks that force the mob to attack us , usually before these run out I have gained aggro off of the second mob.

I have noticed that I never loose aggro on single mob pulls to the healer. Now on 3-4 mob pulls, usually after the second mob dies, i have to pull a mob off the healer. Again this is easily taken care of!

The main problem i see with holding aggro is not in the warriors control. It is with playing with competent DPS classes that understand that you do not go all out before the warrior gets that first taunting strike off.
