Which class will be the best MT for raids?
As ive notice warriors just attack mainly and dont have any powers, paladins can heal and tank, dread knights can use dps attacks and fear and tank, and Inquisitor can heal and tank, but when it comes to the main point who will be the main class for a MT in raid? there has to be one or they all get a equal chance?. IMO i hope paladins are kinda like in ffxi

Hello Salron13,
I see that this is your first post and I welcome you to VGF. To answer your question bluntly, Tazzrin Jaegernaut the warrior will be the best MT for a raid :twisted: . But, I think I see the question you are trying to ask. Let me refer you to these posts of discussions we've had on this very issue in the past. Post#1 Post#2 These are just a few I dug up, but I am sure we have more in there somewhere. I think one of the key words when deciding on what tank to choose is situational. It will depend on the situation when deciding what tank to choose for maximum tanking performance. Take a look at some of our past posts and come back and tell us what you come up with. |

As stated, Sigil are claiming all subclasses will be equal at their primary role. Of course, things rarely work out that way. As a guess, I would assume the classes won't be perfectly balanced at release, and one class will be best for tanking in most situations. As ongoing balancing takes place hopefully they will even out, so pick a class on your personal preference rather than what's best at the time.

I think Paladins will still be 'considered' the king in many eyes just because of their healing abilities along with all the rest. As I've seen it in WoW and some other games, if you can heal and/or res, your considered better than the average joe warrior. Now dont get me wrong, I hope this will change in Vanguard... but I still think a good chunk of new people that dont know the power of the other melee classes would rather have a Paladin on their side (I think another reason is because their name 'Paladin' stands out, everyone knows what they are and what they are 'usually' capable of doing.)
I was actually going to try Berserker on release... but now I'm left with a hole where the class once stood Warrior or DK will have to fill it. |

Control = power
Paladins are usually a most welcome addition to a raid group but Warriors usually are the most trusted "Tanks". The reasons for this is simple, they are usually the best at keeping the "aggro" or focus of the monster being attacked. Paladins are great off tanks when needed. In most cases, however, the MT will most likely be a Warrior.
A Warrior has no "powers", but the fact that they build aggro makes them able to keep the focus of the monster that needs to be killed. Anyone who played EQ knows theres a big difference between a warrior who taunts and build aggro and one who doesn't . Paladins might replace warriors in some off the beaten path title but I would be amazed if Paladins were considered better "Tanks" than fighters in the final Vanguard version of who does what. RPG 101 basicly states if you mix your classes you give up just as much as you gain. Yes they can heal but any cross-class skilled hero always has to give something up for the added abilities making them good in there own right but not better than either of the classes they chose to mix. This opinion only pertains to a PvE system not a PvP system. Balancing between PvP and a PvE system at the same time is very difficult to say the least. 8) Long story short ......Pick your class and have fun mastering it! |
