Leap attack

Just read on the latest patch notes that "Warrior - Leap Attack is no longer a valid ability."

If this means that we are losing one of our best attacks (despite the new leap past your enemy animation which I now quite like and think its fun) then I believe the Warrior class is going to be very tough to play.

Any views on this?

I understand that The Vision(tm) was for Warriors to be tanks and not DPS... but they just badly nerfed the soloing ability of one of the worst soloing classes. What the hell?

I knew Leap Attack was broken, but I hate to see the ability to be removed all-together. Upping the timer considerably would be a great fix. A nearly automatic crit on a 5 minute timer would have some great strategic uses.

It definately couldn't stay in as it was. I could solo 4 dot mobs.

Re: Leap attack

Ahhhhh that explains the lvl 15 warrior at the redcaps (I was doing the icy fruit) I was with a Psi on my shammy (12 PSi, 15 Shammy) and the battles were easyish on singles but might go bad if 2 come and I never tried the 3 dot named b/c they were being camped by a cleric then the warrior (except one which I didn't know was part of a returning train and I couldnt handle the 3 dot and 2 regs. Think the speed of hp loss on the3 dot makes me think we'd have had a hard time with that alone)

But the War was jumping in the distance nonstop and PWNING them in what looked like 2-3 swings for non 3 dot and not much more for the named. I know the 2 dots were easy for me but they took a decent bit to die.

I had assumed the warrior was a young guy all jumping around going 'heee-yaaaaa' and stuff having a good time - forgot about Leap Attack since my warrior is 12 and while I THOUGHT I had it earlier, I didn't last time I played him - either they moved it in live after I first trained it or I am remembering Beta.

I didn't remember it being "UBER" when I used it tho, I just rmemeber I would practice till I could successfully open with it (get to learn mob speed to you and how to hit back arrow in flight ;P)

So they overbalanced it I infer?

About 90% of the time, it resulted in a crit, which also meant you got a chain off about every 4-5 seconds. Mean, mean, mean stuff - especially with 2h weapons.

Still, they shouldn't have just taken an ability away. If they moved the crit chance to about 95 and put it on a 5 minute timer, it'd have quite the strategic use, but couldn't be used to pwn mobs that should kill us.

Re: Leap attack

I stopped using Leap Attack weeks ago, when it had no leap animation with it. Never saw in any patch notes anything saying it had been fixed, however.

Re: Leap attack

I agree that the ability getting chains quite frequently was maybe a little too much, although I still see lots of other classes including *coughs* Clerics of course, Pally, and Dreadknights that could solo mobs much higher than me BEFORE they took the Leap Attack away. I used to stand and watch in awe thinking, hmmm should I try it, but now its a definite no way. So they have taken away one of the Warriors good abilities.

I agree with Nil and maybe up the timer on it to 1 min so at least we get to use it once.
I thought when the leap was added that it would be a great and impressive method of turning mobs when tanking, and it was, I used it loads for that, so a longer timer would make it very useful for that.

As far as Warriors tanking, I think we make good tanks but mostly in the game so far I haven't seen any great need for tanks apart from the tricky dungeons.

Re: Leap attack

I think there should be a DPS warrior as well -- build it either way.

I thought Vanguard was creating you own character to be original, if that means a dps warrior then shucks.

lol

Taking away leap attack wasn't a good idea IMO I think we should be able to choose how we want our character to evolve, I don't like rogues or monks... I wanted to play a fighter that could dps. I guess Sigil is against a regular fighter.
