VF - Soloing as a Warrior

Anyone have any special tips on soloing as a warrior? I'm wondering if I'm setting my expectations too high. 2-dots don't really give me a problem, but lately, i've been running into alot of even-level 3-dots on my quests (I'm at the East Angoer Bunkers in Qalia atm) and haven't really been able to beat them. Is this as intended? I've been hearing alot of talk on other forums of classes being able to beat 3-dots.

In my opinion warriors are very poorly set up to solo. I would really not even bother trying to solo 3 dot encounters and honestly as you progress in levels you will find even soloing 2 dot encounters will not be worth the time or effort. Especially with the way armor decay is set up.

I disagree, I solo just fine but you have to use what ya got. My combo for taking down 3 dot mobs is sword and board. I open with my ranged pull/taunt which usually hits for 200-300 then I take a few steps back while the mob is running at me to regain some endurance. Next it's myrmidons gift (guaranteed crit for 3 seconds), shield bash which crits and unlocks decimate and heres the kicker shield bash and decimate aren't on the same global cool down so you can hit one then the other within the 3 seconds myrmidons gift is on. Then once you crit with decimate it unlocks Obliterate. Then I just jump attack/decimate/shield bash the rest of the fight. Hope this helps.

Try using this combo on a 3 dot mob a about 4 lvls below you and see how it works out. If it works for you, you should be able to take on 3 dot mobs your lvl.

Hm...myrmidons gift ? What is that? I'll have to check my abilities again when I get home. I don't even remember if I have Obliterate.

Myrmidon's Gift makes your next attack guarenteed to critical.

Although I haven't gotten MD yet, I've read that macroing the combo above (MD-> SB/Kick -> Dec -> OB) = pwn

One thing to think about. I had up until tonight used primarily Sword and board. The shield gives such a nice defense stat. Gives me over 500 more defense just for equipping it...However. There is exceptions to everything and one thing I learned this evening.

I had been using caretakers shortsword. It weighed in at 19dps. Recently this evening a guildmate sent me a 25 dps longsword. Now I have preached to not being a fan of the longsword but I couldn't pass up 6dps upgrade in weapons.

After seeing my nice criticals due to new weapon on decimate I then decided...im going to try something. I put the caretakers shortsword in my offhand and bagged the shield to experiment. Much to my surprise I didn't take a whole lot more dmg then the shield...it was noticeable but not life threatening. What I did notice was how fast I was killing the mobs. I think the SS I had in offhand was giving me 5% crit still and I was eating mobs alive.

What I had troubles soloing three days ago..which was equal level 1 level lower 3 dots became trivial. I was in fact taking more dmg but I was doing SO much more DPS that it didn't matter.

I haven't tested it over and over but I kind of like running around duel weilding. I wouldn't recommend it without two very nice weapons though. If your going to give up the defense you better be bringing in some heat. Just a thought for some of you to look at.

It is really all about your weapon's dps and making sure you get the chains off. (also, make sure your weapons skill is nearly maxed)

The easy chain is jump+decimate.

Once you get MG you can do the MG+kick+dec+obl which just crushes everything.

I have tested sword&shield, 2h and duel. I find that the 2h and duel put down the opponent so much faster that you end up taking about the same amount of damage as S&S. One good thing about S&S is that if things are going bad (alot of misses) then you can more easily escape.

Clearly noone can currently compete with a healing class in solo surviability but warriors can do really well. Just buy a good high level uncommon weapon or better and goto town.

At level 20 I don't come close on even con 3dots.

I have tried both dual wield and sword and board, and I am using yellow weapons above my level.

The myrmidon's gift->kick->decimate->obliterate combo works great on 2dots and takes most of their health in a few seconds. On 3dots, however, they just have too much life left at the end and I cannot outlast them.

Lot of that has to do with the severe nerf our leap attack got. I really hope they lower it some. Can only do 2 or 3 leap attacks in a tank of endurance after the initial MG+kick+deci+obliderate. That attack usually takes em to 70 % or so but u have 70 more to go heh...and I find myself trying to regen enough endurance for one more battle leap just to save my life at times.

I understand they wanted to up the endurance, but I really hope they find a little bit better medium. I want to be able to solo. And I don't mind sitting down for a snack either. I just want to at least be comfortable in soloing 3 dots my level. Some classes can solo 3 dots 2 levels higher. Some fights I completely waist a mob and then pull the same kind of mob next and have a lot of trouble. I hope they cut the endurance cost on leap attack I think that will even it out some.
