VF - Pulling
I have a question for you guys. Who usually does the pulling in your groups?
I've experimented a bit in dungeons with pulling and generally I do all the pulling. There are classes that get lull and pacify, etc... but generally they don't work well. If a druid pulls for example and 4 mobs come then I can't get all the mobs on me for a while and it takes time for the chanter to lockdown the 3 targets I'm not on. It usually results in a dead druid. What about other classes? Do some other classes make good pullers? I also have a question concerning groups. In dungeons there seems to be some spots where 2 groups of mobs get linked somehow. For example. There's a group of 3 mobs close together. Then say a roamer that I can't see is between them and a group of 4 mobs clustered together. If I bow pull then all 8 mobs come running at me which causes us to port out. It's very annoying if you're 2 hours deep in a dungeon. What tactics do you guys generally use to keep mobs split up? Do you use a puller with lull in these examples? There's one spot in hilsbury manor where there are 8 mobs clustered together. We see how they're all going to come if we pull and it seems there's no way to split them. Is this poor design placement or do you have a trick to split mobs in a case like this? Now my last question. Do you body pull or bow pull? I tested it out some and it seems it doesn't make a difference. I want to see if someone has noticed any difference between bow and body pulling. |

I haven't encountered any linked mobs that couldn't be split (somehow), given that you have enough room.
If you're pulling, you need to learn the tactics. Tactics are learned by trial and error. Try different things and be ready to run and die. In my groups I pull because I like to set the pace, and the pace is determined by watching your group. Take advantage of the classes you have and the utilities that can be used from each. So, I guess I'm saying, pullers are pullers, not any specific class. Sure some classes work better than others, but to be a good puller you understand how it works first. You'd be amazed at what can be split, once you start trying different things. As an example, I was splitting even con ghosts last night that were 5 ft apart just by body (radius) pulling. |

Let a Bard do the dirty work - he can lull at least 2 mobs at the same time and pull the rest - then he can ae-snare the rest so you can pick your target. He can currently mezz 1-2 mobs and charm one, although that removes him completely from doing damage.

Usually for the pull :
Monk for split Psion can apathy (pacify) mez and send illusion tank Rogue can bonk/sap a mob to make him stunned for a few sec Sorcerer can mez Bard can lull but not sure if its really working well Disciple and necro maybe can also fd...that helps sometimes for exceptionnel splitting (named from his adds etc) and some class can charm for a few sec...rangers on animals and maybe bm on some mobs About body pull from arrow pull...i think body pull can help sometimes to avoid adds (noticed that a few days ago in Skawlra Rock) |

played a bard to 32 in beta. as far as im concerned, bard is the best puller in game. Monk splitting is just too time consuming and FD fails so much. so aside from exploiting mob leashes the bard is the way to go. no bard? get a psi for CC. no psi? other classes can hold a single mob reasonably well as mentioned above. a warrior can hold agro on multiple pulls better than any other class but thats not saying too much. I have found that you can get by on 3+ pulls if you have above avg dps. 3 or less is trivial with healing as long as they are <=3dot.
on multiples, i like to pull with infuriating shot and immediately switch to a different NPC. I find this give you a little more leeway. I always explain what I do to the grp im in so they know to reassist accordingly. |

Well I'm mainly asking about how to pull. I understand already which classes get CC. So from reading the replies body pulling helps to split mobs? Is that correct?
Plus bards make good pullers. They get lull which can help pull I guess. Mainly I'm asking about dungeon crawls though. It's frustrating when you get those groups of 8 mobs and you have to port out so I'm looking for a tactic or a kind of puller that helps this not happen. |
