Halfling Defensive Stance quest?

Is the halfling defensive stance quest in game? I noticed lots of posts saying to go visit your trainer at level 8 to get the quest. And I have seen a few references to places like Martok, Halgraad, Tanvu etc having the quest. Is it just not in Trush (Western Watch Barracks)? Do I have to hump it over to Halgraad at level 8 to do the quest?

If you haven't already, check out the barracks in Tursh. On my first warrior who was a dwarf, I happened to be in the area and was able to complete the quest for defensive stance at that location. That was in beta 3, however, so it may have changed.

Its definitely not at the barracks at Tursh. That is where I have been going to get my level 8, 10, 12 skills, and there has not been any quests given by the warrior trainer at the Tursh barracks. Maybe I have to go to BC or something?

I think most people would agree with me that there should be a quest from that warrior trainer for defensive stance. Maybe the devs thought otherwise for a good reason. You should check out the other trainers at areas close by to see if they will give you the quest.

Perhaps try using /bug to report that there is not a defensive quest given by this trainer. I don't see a reason why there should not be one offered by him.

In beta I played a bunch of toons to the mid teens. Didn't want to ruin my experience come live and wanted to figure out what I'd be doing in the area if I picked that race.

I didn't like the halfling area at all. There was no defensive stance quest and I did /bug it. What I did was hike my way down to bordinar's cleft (dwarven city) and did the quest there. It's easier then the lesser giant trainer and takes less time. Other reason I didn't like the halfling area is the quests in the area seem to stop at 6 or 7. Most areas hand hold you for quests up to level 10. They did add more quests I saw in a patch note though so maybe that's changed.

So to sum up. If you're a halfling once you run out of quests head to Leth Narae. There are some quests outside the city you can pick up on and continue questing until level 10. Then hike down the bordinar's cleft for your defensive stance (won't need it until after level 10).

In beta I found that the fastest way to 10-12 was to run the lowbie quests in at least two different starting areas. The quests not only give good experience, but they also give good coin at those levels. The last character i did that with was a halfling, who headed to Bordinar's Cleft after finishing up in hobbitville. At level 11 he had over 20 silver, mostly from doing the quests. Thats more than twice what any of my other characters had at the same level.

Absolutely no need to stick with your starter area if you dont like it. I took one of my level 1 characters from Tursh to Tanvu, and leveled up to 10 there. Not only was it a fun journey (no experience debt at that level), but it was neat to be the only 'foreigner' in the lowbie Tanvu zone.
