Oloh on taunt

Oloh had this to say on the OVF about taunt:

Oh yeah! In EQ I mindlessly kept using my manabar with my paladin to gain aggro, not paying much heed to what spell I was using. Didn't really matter much as long as I was casting something, and hitting taunt right after. We will really need to be on our toes in VG and remember what taunt ability lies buried behind which opener.

Decisions, decisions.... all cool in my book!

Even that was deeper than the good old "Taunt and hope!" Warrior tactic More depth can only be "a good thing"™

Perhaps, but Warriors do what we can with the tools we have available I wasn't the best equipped (far from it!) but I did just fine. I am hoping Vanguard steers away from agro lock and makes agro management a group effort (just like with a Warrior tanking in EQ)

That was a big problem for me in EQ... I did most of my leveling duoing or in small groups with my hubby at the time as main tank and he is a pally, being a rogue I never really learned the finer points of agro management with such a stong tank, of course I knew how to evade but I didn't have to very often... it was a significant learning curve for me when I joined a high end raiding guild. Now I have no problem with grouping with warriors unless the warrior is sorely under geared compaired to me.

Expect a completely different system here.
As far as I know, everyone will be stealing agro on a very regular basis. Get used to it. Light melee rescues, Tank rescues and emergency dives will be common. All the healers that are disappointed they won't have a large healing centric role will find that this is only the case when everything runs completely smooth...which I doubt it will...like, EVER.

Things are shaping up for an interactive combat system that will feel real and non-contrived, finally. I know I'm not the only excited one...

I've said it once and I'll say it again:
