I believe sensing what your enemy is about to smack you with is skill (i.e. the Perception skill) based. If your perception skill is good enough compared to the mob you have a higher chance of detecting what it's gonna do, and from the OP quote it sounds like there's a window or something that shows you the "mobs queue".
I love the sound of this; instead of having your damage taking influenced primarily by rolls you can directly mitigate damage to some degree. I wonder if the difference between weapons won't just be attack speeds or defensive counter bonuses. Perhaps the types of openers, chains, and finishers you do are dependent on the weapon you use as well? It would make sense that the type of attacks you can do with an ax would differ from those you can do with a sword. |

Fast weapons do have many advantages, I agree. One thing that isn't mentioned though is the endurance/engergy/mana cost of using a faster weapon. I'm guessing that using a rescue or bridge move will consume some endurance and that it probably is a fixed cost not dependant on the weapon your using. You might want to opt for the slower weapon so that your bridge move gives you more bang for the buck. This will depend on your group and situation of course, if you have to sit down after every fight to let your casters regen mana then you might as well use up all of your endurace each fight too. Using it all up might be possible with a slow weapon too, we don't have any idea how much endurance we'll have or how quickly we'll burn though it.
Never really thought about it before but I haven't played a game yet where the warrior had to be conservative. |
