Best Solo Class

What do you all think is the best class to solo with from early to high level?
Thanks

Re: Best Solo Class

right now? cleric - there is not a damn thing they cannot do. go str/dex based, wear crafted armor (or go after the URT when the missions are not bugged anymore), 2HB for damage, and take the war specialty and you will be doing insane damage and healing yourself later

as of right now, with sub par gear and build (dwarf in URT armor/1HB URT weapon/int+wis+vit focus) I can solo +2 four dots and not worry about it. My HoT will cover any heals I need and I'm not even a war cleric (have no specialty yet)

I can take 3, +1 three dots at once and live through it with the occasional heal. Popping the HoT every 18 sec, and healing only when needed

There is a cleric currently on test who is human, str/dex build, solid armor /weapon and he is out damaging most light fighters (if not all) and it is his build I suggested to you. Mine is more flexible and makes me one hell of a twink healer in team (all of my "sub par" gear gives bonuses to healing focus. I have +125 HF fully equipped)

I do less damage, but I like the flexibility

I'm going to assume you came right from WoW as that is a very WoWish question.

Re: Best Solo Class

*shrug* I guess I don't see how asking which class is the best soloer is a "WoW-ish" or any other MMO specific question. Maybe the OP came from CoH (lots of solo content there), or AO (ditto on the solo content - specially with pet classes)

I prefer to believe the OP is like I am - someone who appreciates an efficient build and knows that sometimes the best way to find the latest information is to ask those currently playing, or someone who solo's out of necessity (no one to team with regularly and not a fan of PUGs)

I do know had I not asked that question I'd've never gotten anywhere in my first MMO. Luckily it was out long before WoW was though... and was more complicated and sci fi based.... but I digress

We'll never help VG garner more subs if we present the community as closed to anyone who has ever looked sideways at the most popular MMO on the market...

just sayin'

Niaya aka Silvestra - 50 Dwarven Hunter on whatever their RP server was (took me two weeks, so I stopped playing)

Re: Best Solo Class

i started a blood mage 3 days ago and logged off last night just short of lvl 20 on shidreth. most of their attacks have a life leach aspect and the longer the battle takes the more each move heals you for. (the whole blood union thing makes a huge difference in heals) i have been able to solo 3 +2 3 dot mobs as a lvl 18, and i don't hesitate to take on a group of 3 +1 3 dots at all. the only times i ever die is if i get stunned and can't cast my heals. also at lvl 18 you get a symbiote that does a damage shield that hits your attacker for ~ 30 dmg every time he hits you.

i have a high elf which gets +1 int and +3 wis every lvl, plus i add 4 to vit, 4 to wis, and 2 to int every lvl to make it look like: +3 int +4 vit +7 wis every level. i would have hit 20 last night, but after i collected the fangs for the URT quest for the ambassador's daughter, the lady wouldn't give me the next part of the quest so i just did a few quests around town and then logged.

I have a Gnome BMG - really awesome class with the invis, lets you get around easier. I should have asked if the OP prefers in your face fighting or distance fighting, sorry about that. I had tunnel vision there.

Using the Galena focus I have a maxed Blood union in 3 hits. Damage and heals go through the ROOF in that one. I tend to play Lillibell conservatively though and have never taken on anything higher than a +2 three dot.

Galahad has a valid point though - BMG's are good. Mine has some +damage focus and +healing focus items (two "Thrashers Focus" +27 HF/+27 DF each) as well as URT armor up to the Chest Piece. As long as you know how to set up your attacks to maximize your blood union and you know how to control your forms - they are a force to be reckoned with.

I took a bit of a different route with my gnome. the +3 int racially really helps with damage. I pump as much into INT as I can every level. Then I pump points into WIS and VIT. All my gear has as much INT focus as I can find, making Lillibell a damage force. I didn't realize what I had to do to actually *make* the symbiotes until yesterday so I've not tried the crowd control yet. That will be a new and fun experience for me

Galahad's build is more rounded and a better healer (just looking at stats distribution) than Lilli is. His looks more solid as well. I pigeon-holed myself into offensive casting and soloing. I don't think Lilli will be strong in team. It'll be a paradigm shift to be sure

Your best two heals you will never be able to use on yourself and you need to remember that, but the attacks you have that provide healing to you make up for it. You have to be a bit careful in the beginning though. IIRC Lilli was a bit on the fragile side until about level 4 or 6.

I'm sorry Galahad, if I had known you were going after the URT stuff, I would have warned you off. That chest piece quest has been broken since they fixed the greaves quest in silver lake.

Re: Best Solo Class

I take a very different approach to this question. My notion is that the best soloing class is the one I enjoy playing the most (of those classes that can solo effectively). To me, best is very subjective and has much more to do with whether I will still enjoy the class after a year or two of play.

How this comes into play for me is that although healers can solo the most content, I really don't enjoy the slow pace of their combat. I would much rather take a bit more time with a ranger or a monk knowing that I will continue to enjoy them.

Re: Best Solo Class

this is the first time i've done the URT quests and pretty much that's all i've done since lvl 14, well those and the quests in the area with them. i think i will go back and work on the vampire hunters quests for a while then. (maybe some tailoring too so i can make myself a nice breastplate to use)

actually, i wish i would have concentrated more on int now that i think about it because the heals i'm always using give you a % of the dmg you've done in health. (i love the one that gives 130% dmg back as health, plus 25% for every lvl in blood union) i basically spam that one when in the hard fights and then hit the huge dmg one when i hit BU 5, rinse repeat.

ever since i got the stance that raises blood union, the rare times i have to stop and rest between wiping out the camp of dragon/demon guys near silver lake and the camp across the road, i'll target one and let it get to 5 so that my first move will take out almost 50% of their life

Re: Best Solo Class

Most of the healer classes seem to be pretty damned good at soloing. I have seen Blood Mage, Disciple, and Shaman all soloing 3 dot mobs that were a higher level than they were. It really makes my ranger, a supposedly broken class, look like a chump. Sure I can kind of solo 3 dot mobs but it usually requires me keeping the thing snared and a lot of arrows to pull off.

Re: Best Solo Class

my bard can solo almost as well as my blood mage, but he has to use kiting which requires me to find a lot of open space and make sure i have enough arrows and stuff. my warrior on the other hand, i usually won't even try anything a level above me even if it's only 2 dots just because i don't have a failsafe, like a quick heal or a huge speed buff to leave my enemies in the dust.
