Super Skills Bug
Hi,
I've just experienced a rather alarming in-game bug and the GM who responded to my petition recommended I /bug it (which I have done) and post it here, so I hope this is the correct place for it ![]() Moments before speaking to Juu outside of Dallerjuba (I think that's correct) village, my skills suddenly began increasing at a phenomenally fast rate. What I mean by this is that I gained a point in any given skill for every 2 or 3 seconds that skill was engaged. My Detection and Awareness skills were maxed in less than a minute, and several of my other skills are getting close. Naturally, I tried exiting the game and restarting my computer. When that failed I petitioned. Unfortunately, this bug appears permenantly attached to my character and no matter what I do I achieve skill points within seconds of activating a skill. Some may actually find this bug desirable but I have no wish to play a super character with meaningless skill levels. I had enough of that in WoW (no offence, great game ). I hope the source of this can be pinned soon - but as to my exceptionally quick-learning character, does anybody know if there is any way to have my skills reset to say, when I last levelled?Edit: Ok, it appears to be tied to my account. My new character is experiencing a skill increase pretty much with every spell cast or every swing of his weapon. Please fix this devs! My character's names are Xiana Beckett and Jauffre Ives on the Florendyl realm. Last edited by Azael : 05-07-2007 at 08:34 AM. |

Re: Super Skills Bug
What level is this happening at? In the first 10 level skills go up very fast. Even from 11-20 they went up pretty fast for me. The slow has started once I hit 21. I still can get most my normal skills (Combat Awareness, etc.) I still have all my weapon skills maxed, but it takes almost my the entire level, or sometimes two. Now my casting skills are abit low. I don't cast to many times though. I'm a level 24 Paladin.

Re: Super Skills Bug
It began happening at level 5 (in fact, almost immediately after I achieved level 5), although I have played several characters previously (back in February/March), and I'm sure my skills didn't increase this fast. My character is now level 7, with all my combat/awareness and spell skills maxed or near to maxed.
It takes me about 20 seconds to gain the extra 10 skill points to max a skill when I level up. For instance, almost every time I cast "Soothe" (a low level Druid spell) I receive a point in Alteration. That makes it incredibly easy to max the skill as I don't need to engage an enemy. When I was level 5, I stood about 30 metres from a stealthed enemy for 40 - 50 seconds (petitioning because my skills were shooting up) and my detection and awareness skills maxed (reached 50) within that time. I then proceeded to complete the quest aware of every single stealthed enemy in the building, making it far too easy. I sincerely hope this is a bug. If it is part of the default gameplay, skills might as well be removed and the benefits they bring directly tied to my level. Sorry for the whinging but when I first started was very pleased to have skills that appeared to matter. I'd stop and think before attacking; my evocation skill is falling behind, I'll focus on that for a while. Now I just select a random enemy and get 5 - 8 skill points in the one fight. How it plays now reminds me of World of Warcraft's system where skills are tied to your level (i.e. if you were level 5 and had a Hand-to-Hand skill of 0, that skill would increase at an incredibly accelerated rate if you used it until it hit the mid-40s). Besides, the GM seemed to think it was a bug...

Re: Super Skills Bug
Trust me, you're either very, very fortunate and/or it's a bug... or you're exactly the right class with the right mix of actions/skills for constant skill levelling? Though if you say it's happening to several of your chars, that theory probably doesn't hold up.
I've been struggling mightily to raise my dagger skills on two chars who'd let it lag some levels before. It's been a hellacious slog (as anyone who's heard me groaning about it on Test will tell you), and although she's been fighting exclusively with daggers for the last 2 levels, my 22 bard *still* doesn't have 220 one-hand piercing skill. Most of my casting chars will have a distinct gap in skill levels too - the cleric, for instance, has maxed out ... evocation, might be, whatever school the main damage-spell comes from, and very low whatever-other-skill it is, which she uses almost exclusively for occasional buffs. Given the infrequency of use of the second skill, I'm not bothered that it should be low, it makes a fair amount of sense. Anyway, I'd be interested to know what might be causing your perfect skilling, whether it's a bug or something else. Not sure we'll get an official response here though.
