First person view

I have to say when i started Vanguard i found it breathtaking in what you see, but since most mmo's i played kinda where really bad in FP view i expected this not to be so much different then we already know from other MMO's, well i was wrong about that

Telon really comes alive in FP view, the way you feel like seeing it from within your own eye's, not seeing that "CHARACTER" on screen that you control gives me a real immersive feeling.
Fighting with creatures makes so much difference compared to 3rd person view, the way creatures bite at you, I’m really pleased about the "realism” and details in how creatures look/fight and bite from up-close but I do hope that something can be done with how they die and display its corpse, should see some blood or damage been brought onto the corpse.
Only thing when I swith to 3rd person view is when I’m in groups, as then I need more view of my surrounding area and team.

Re: First person view

That must have happened in Beta 2.5/3.0 because I recall when FPV was first added back then, or rather when it was first changed to what it is today (can see feet and look behind on horse etc - all GREAT stuff) so falling through the earth was even easier - heck summon your horse on a pier or walkway and blam... underneath Khal or that port on Qa.

I think they have a GREAT animation but the lack of 'something' in the way you see weapons/hands etc (loot to original OLD EQ for what I thought worked a little better even if this one BLOWS away EQ in visualization... I think we see too little or to brief (forget - I stopped using it after testing it in beta) of the weapons swinging etc. I felt I was standing around too much and not like I was blocking or swinging. Or maybe it obstructed my view when I did? I should retry it to post some REAL feedback /blush.

Re: First person view

There is a setup option that allows you to see your hands in first person combat. I think its off by default.

Re: First person view

I have always played in FP. I like the feel and look of it. It makes me feel more like I'm there. I may not beable to see every move my party makes, but then again they should not be running amuck either. I just can't play a MMO in 3rd person. That's why I could never get into Shadow Bane. /shrug I just prefer First Person I guess.

Re: First person view

Ya, I was there when they added the 'see hands' etc feature.

In some ways it BLOWS away old EQ FPV. Like how you can 'pan' the view and look down at your feet or behind you while riding your horse at your equine's butt.

Heck, you are a regular Carrie with FPV

BUT while fighting, and by the video I see it is still true (to me), your hands kinda come and go from view and stay in veiw, imo, to briefly. I always picture more of a crouch where you see your hand and shield at all times fighting (again like in EQ) the view now to me seems disjointed and non-immersive due to it's lack of 'pizazz' - I am usually staring at nothing and OCCAISIONALLY see my hands appear for a brief second's swing and even then it's alot of times just part of the weap unless I look further down (which cuts off my looking ahead at mobs view)
