Mage Pets
I am not sure if this pertains to all arcane casters...or just certain ones, like necromancers and summoners...

Re: Mage Pets
Pets sound promising. I like the fact that it eliminates the ability for casters to hide behind their pets while they beat the living crap out of whatever they decide to be soloing. This could introduce more "kiting" for the spellcasters, rather than having the basic "pet tank" solo method.
Also, I believe that they need to have pets available for rangers/druids, for it only makes sense for this genre of game. /shrug only my oppinion, and I like the method of how they are implementing pets. |

Re: Mage Pets
Hrmm Im not sure I like the wont tank clause. I believe the key to a successful game system is to provide as many options to the players as possible. This is just eliminating one option. Guess we'll have to see how this plays out in beta.

Re: Mage Pets
This would force mages to "group" with defensive melee types. Not sure if I like it myself. I think mages should be able to create a pet that can tank. Casters must be pretty powerful if they think they can do without a taunting/tank pet.

Re: Mage Pets
I think it would be interesting if somehow they implimented pets in more than just the combat aspect of the game. Such as maby a hawk pet could go and search out ingrediants for say/ small animal for pelt, or have a pet hound that could sniff out certain crafting ingrediants. I dont know, I just think it would be nice to see a pet as more than a meat shield between the caster and his target.
