Re: Money generation rate: too slow?
Just adding my 2 cp worth.
I like the rate at which money is gained in Vanguard it has a sense of realism about it, I find nothing worse in a game where lower monetary values go out the window and the price of everything gets measured in hundreds gold or platinum, it ends up making a mockery of the game economy. Also as stated by a few others above, it makes it harder for the gold or plat farmers who try to sell you in game money. However I do realise that the above 2 issues are inevitable in the long run.

Re: Money generation rate: too slow?
One thing I noticed is that the slot for Platinum in the trading window has over 6 digits, whereas the CP/SP/GP are smaller. That can only mean its planned that someone will have at least 100,000 p at some point.
But I'll say that VG has only slightly too slow money generation for my taste. I'm eternally at a point where I'm just barely out of range to purchase armor/weapons my level, and carpentry-created items don't seem to be selling on brokers. It seems that if you take into account a healthy adventuring habbit as well as being an armorsmith/weaponsmith/tailor/leatherworker of some sort the money gain is very profitable. Just not if you're only doing one or the other.

Re: Money generation rate: too slow?
This is actually perfectly logical. The lesser three coins roll over automatically into the next type up when you have 100 of them, so that it is impossible to have more than 99 of any one of them. Plat has nothing to roll into, so eventually you will need more than two digits, even if that is only for when the guild leader buys his guild plot.

Re: Money generation rate: too slow?
first of i think the money generation is perfect for my taste.
i also think that your average player should have to struggle to get the best armour weapons and so on. it should be easy to get hold of average equip. like in RL i can easily afford what i need, but if i want beter then i need to save. eq2 was a prime example for me. i was rolling in money, yet to buy the best equip didnt even scratch my coin purse. i love the sense of achievement this game offers and feel that most people that complain just want everything that little easier, money, exp and everything else included. i am not labelling anyone so no need to flame me! but i class myself as an average player, yet i feel exp, money, learning curve, and difficultly is spot on in this game. saying that i do feel that maybe tanks could get hit hard with the repairs, but maybe that is something that needs adressing elswhere, maybe tank classes get a mod to represent thier skills in avoiding damage to thier armour? |

Re: Money generation rate: too slow?
I vote just right. From what I have seen the 2 biggest money makers are crafting ( I know plenty of crafters on forums who will argue this point but all ym crafting friends in game have more money then they can spend ) and harvesting too in turn sell to those crafters. If you spend a bit of time harvesting, and learn a few nice spots to do so in you can easily gain money.
I mainly adventure myself, and the good thing abotu that is I really have nothing to spend my money on, all ym gear is either obtained from quests/ mob drops, or made by the aformaentioned crafter friends. I scraped up enough to buy a plot of land, and right now I make a little extra scratch for myself outside the repair costs. So I have no problem with it. |

Re: Money generation rate: too slow?
Having recently taken an interest in actually wanting money, it's really not that hard to come by if you try. I was able to make 1gp for a cloak with only perhaps a few hours "work" (I put it in quotes as I still enjoyed it but others may not). I like the feeling that just because your a certain level things don't just fall into your lap, and that you might actually have to put forth a little effort to acquire the amount you want.
**small print** I also usally have crazy ADD when playing Vanguard so those "hours" were not like 100% productive.

Re: Money generation rate: too slow?
Well i have just ding'd 40 and yes, the mob cash loot drops do see at the vendor for a little more but i have the huge sum of...6gp...i am struggling to aim for that crafter made bow with stat adds and procs at 10gp, let alone a 30gp horse...i still have the T1 horse i bought at lv 10. The market for the general magic item drop has dried up almost totally. If you are lucky enough to spotone of the named 2 dots that as a ranger i can solo i then have to hope it drops a yellow as its a waste of the deposit to try selling a blue.

Re: Money generation rate: too slow?
Its very well balanced between gaining XP and gaining gold!
I dont see why you should naturally gain a lot of gold AND XP while adventuring.. ( Hate those games where you always have too much gold and thers no point in buying and selling ) to me its like, if I want to gain levels then I must spend time to gain XP, if I want gold, then I must spend time doing gold-gaining activities, whilst understanding that im not leveling as quick! If i want LOTS of gold then I must craft and harvest.. and not gain any XP at all! Remember, when a crafter crafts.. he's not leveling, so if you are adventuring then your going to be able to farm gold easier than he is, and you will gain adventuring items which you can sell! This is another aspect as well... Studying the market and selling at a profit, after adventuring STUDY CARFULLY the market value of the items you have, pick out the profitable ones and put it up for a good price.. even if its crap! - put it up for sale, you can sell anything if its the right price. My auction log is ALWAYS full, if I dont have 10 items for sale when I log off then how can I expect to be richer when I log on again? If you just look at the money gained on questing and adventuring, then NO, your NOT going to get rich.. but there are things you can do to maximise this, like carfull market use. To sum up, Gold aquisition is balanced... but only if YOU balance it. Im sure down the line people will make farming and money gaining guides, but at the moment most people are more concerned with leveling and exploring the game. Throwing in comment.....
You'll never make enough money if you don't save it.... It works in RL too!!!! ![]()
