Lao'Jin and Ra'Jin

If I recall from playing a monk for a little bit in Beta this was a decision to be made in Kojan.

It is, I believe one for all classes by all indications. It is not a disciple/monk 'style' as much as a faction choice perhaps. But exactly WHAT is it?

It may be it was something intended in Beta but never done or perhaps it is a whole Giants/Dragons/Dwarves thing. Anyone know any background on this? I wanted to know more about what side I am allying myself with before I play my Kojanese Disc.

Anyone know?

Re: Lao'Jin and Ra'Jin

It is a decision that you make during your newbie quests as a Kojani Human or Half Elf. As you learn about the Jin (feel the Jin, Luke) you must decide whether to embrace the path of Lao'Jin (the light side) or Ra'Jin (the dark side). From what I can tell, the decision only has local ramifications as you move through the first few levels (and I understand, from some posts here, that the path of Ra'Jin may not be fully fleshed out and you may still end up fighting the Ra'Jin of the stronghold). I am still working through the level 10+ portion of the sequence on the Lao'Jin so I don't know how it turns out.

Re: Lao'Jin and Ra'Jin

Yea, I recall a Ra'Jin stronghold in beta and seeing red mobs named Ra'Jin etc - but I never noticed, other than guards in Tanvu - Lao type 'mobs' and suspected that there isn't anobverse line. In fact, it would probably be a problem if there were - since there would need to be about 2x the content and that content would nearly need to be soloable unless both sides were equally attractive.

Anyone played making Ra'Jin choice?

Cool. My big complaint about the Kojani Humans and Half Elves were that you had to take the lame offer to betray the empire and start being nice. If they've added an option to keep to the dark side, I've got to try that out.

As if the call of the alt wasn't already strong enough...

this choice is later than that unfortunately, you still have to betray the emperor and be all nice and lose your gear, but you can become evil again...but as far as i know it just means you get red gear instead of blue... :P

Bah. I didn't care about the silly looking gear. But I liked being an officer in the emperor's army. We'll teach those monks to resist by, um, standing there.

Thank you, Iendan. You've saved me from making an alt.

Yes it was, infact I actually wrote a very long winded feedback on that in beta.

Re: Lao'Jin and Ra'Jin

I think we all did...

I expect that model will be available in some later date. I have not spent time in Kojan since my lvl8 monk barely explored it - it was opened last and perhaps it is the tip of the iceberg...err archipelago? and there will be a mainland empire or something and samurai in some expansion

Anyhow - red vs blue? Not sure what that means as I spent so little time there.

Re: Lao'Jin and Ra'Jin

No idea if this is going to hinder or aid me in any way, but when playing my Disciple, I couldn't get the quest for the Lai'jin to continue in about 6x, so I went with the Ra'jin and did it on the first try. The only thing so far, is when i went back to the trainer, he told me " I was afraid of that, but you can still be of help to us."
other than that, I haven't seen anything on my level 8 (so far) disciple that it affects other than the odd fact that I've been in the castle fighting "my bretheren"? hehehe
