Re: faction (adv) (non-kos) questions
Gnomes hate the dwarves. But that's because a race of dwarves drove them out of the Deepdark and so they don't trust any of them now. At least that's how I remember from the gnomish newbie diplomacy line...

Re: faction (adv) (non-kos) questions
I admit I don't know much Lore for the back story, as Sigils site has only short stories under "Lore" and thusly don't really know much about my own race (Varanjar) other than we are at war with the Gnolls and are freinds with the neighboring Lesser Giants, as we both fought the Gnolls.

Re: faction (adv) (non-kos) questions
As a Dark Elf I only had to get 150? faction to be non KOS in every city i've been to so far. The other quirk about faction, I believe it is the same for all, is that your faction starts really low for your starter city. This would make me believe that the more faction you get with your starter town the more rewards open up.
As a crafter primarily. You need 100 continental faction to get recipes from the 2 other continents. Along with faction so that they will speak to you. There are plenty of ideas for faction in the crafting WIKI, both Work orders and mob killing. |

Re: faction (adv) (non-kos) questions
I'm a bit confused about faction atm .. originally I was thinking that if I was KoS to an NPC (town guard or so), his name would be shown in red - this was the case with the town guards in Khal, for example, and they predictably killed me when I came too close. But I'm getting attacked by NPCs in various outposts (and the sultan's cat in Ahgram!
) without provocation, even though their name is shown in yellow. Last one to attack me was an NPC in Raia who had a quest giver shield over his head, so I thought he'd be safe to approach but no, attacked me on sight.Soo .. is there a simple to tell whether an NPC will attack on sight, except coming close and running away fast? Also how can I tell an outpost NPC's faction? Are they always of the same faction as the closest town?

Re: faction (adv) (non-kos) questions
I checked the faction listing on VGPlayers.com but even the faction I have 500 in is barely deflected beyond teh center point.

Re: faction (adv) (non-kos) questions
Well here is my in game example...
So I asked on chat "how do I become un-KOS with Khal? I'm a kitty" XXX shouts "Like 250 or something" Okay, off to grind little wolves. At 300 faction (I like to play it safe) I walk into Khal proudly and BAM dead... For Khal as a Kurasasha, my magic number was 501. |

Re: faction (adv) (non-kos) questions
Your KoS status is determined by your Full Rating as listed when doing a /showfactions. Some races are KoS to each other more than others. -7999 or higher will get you out of the KoS realm. The faction that displays when you kill something is your Dynamic Rating, or amount you have changed from the default for you race.

Re: faction (adv) (non-kos) questions
So if I start at -100, and my dynamic raiting is 60, I'm -40 overall?
