Quest: Bugs

I was hoping we could start a thread on quest bugs, perhaps with an admin copying them out to a sticky for devs to see. Otherwise, in the meanwhile it would be great if you self-edited your own posts when the quests are fixed.

Issue: Was given a quest to check on the outpost. There was another given at the same time directing you to the other (Gnoll encampment) Guardpost. I took both at the same time in order given, if that matters.

I went to the spot, found the corpse, looted the armor and returned. The NPC did not have a green shield. In beta he accepted the armor and gave more steps in a progression.

Tried all weekend, inc after patches. Unfortunately now level 11, but still would love to finish it.

As a side note: I tried cancelling Shield and nothing, then tried cancelling both and NPC would not give me the Yhatar quest again - I realized I had looted it already which was a step in itself. Corpse did not let me 'reloot' or get the quest. Luckily I thought to have someone stuck on quest grp me and share. This worked and I have the quest again (hopefully this did not bug me)

Sorry... let me clarify

Of course use /bug (I tell people this in game all the time) - however, /bug does not allow for feedback from other players (you may be wrong about the bug) and there is no likelihood that a dev will read your /bug see that it is you just being a knucklehead, track you down on the server and say: "you forgot to equip the fetish and it is Hill Cats not Mountain Screamers!" or the like

Not to mention that seeing such a thread may allow the devs to respond to ask for more info (interactive bug reporting) and/or allow others to escape being put into a 'dead end' position. I know that on the last days of beta - I clicked on the Captured Slaves chain at the second to last step and because there was an unseen error (I had gotten 'you are the first' messages all through it) it was uncompletable. However, since I clicked - I could now NEVER complete it.

It was beta so no big - AND the speedy dev had it fixed the same night and patched the next day But if it was release - wouldn't we want to have a place to check for CRITICAL character-bugging bugs?

Not saying I interpreted your response as saying ANYTHING other than "remember to /bug it" but for anyone else who might - just wanted to point out uses for this thread.

Sorry, forgot the name - I did this VERY late last night.

Basically, in VoH there is a long (very long) quest series that has you go through gnoll camp/orcbane/voh dungeon (various areas) - in the step after collapsing mines, the npc giving the new quest does so.

If you reclick him, he gives a dialogue which the TARGET npc should be giving (I did this quest in Beta) and has a continue button. I did not press that continue button.

DO NOT PRESS THE CONTINUE AT QUEST GIVER.

Not sure if it will 'bug' you or let you skip a step ;P BUT in Beta when a similar bug occured at the second to last step... I clicked it and blamo - quest was bugged for me and I could not continue it again.


So - not sure if it is a problem, I /bug 'ed it and am giving you all fair warning: If you think any NPC is letting you 'exploit' a step - you reap what you sow

There is that looting bug that sometimes no one can loot the item even after doing /endloot. Our group have missed out on a few due to corpse rotting as we could not do anything about it.

Today doing a quest from Beacon of Al<mumbles> given by some crazy Gnomish (redundant, I know) Archaeologist... Find Apenlippe's body and journal - from 2/6 (1737) patch notes:

Looted the body for the update but no journal appears in the empty loot screen.

Problem: Final stage of the quest is bugged. The wolves are invulnerable, and don't aggro you for more then a few seconds.

Yes, they repeatedly leash after moving just a short distance. This quest has not worked properly for a long time.

Speaking of "long time" - Yhatar's Message is still bugged. Worked in beta hasn't worked since release on either of my 2 Halgarad Barbs.
