Re: Hidden lands

It was a question we raised in Horizons. assume you have a house with all your gear and decide to move to a new location. You need to buy a plot and build your new house before you can transfer your belongings into it. So you need to own 2 houses at least for a short while.

Also in a way I hope housing is cheap and easy rather than time consuming and expensive. If this is the case then players will be less reluctant to move about. Being able to purchase a built house from another player should be possible, as should renting houses and appartments in cities.

That would be a nice feature and interesting way of playing the game. We could all become slumlords!

Re: Hidden lands

As far as I know, there will be only one real high level only continent called Lothenland. I do not believe it will be overcrowded with players, as the leveling will be quite slow.

Generally the only people who might have a bit of a problem with only one small continent to play in for the best loot would be those who rushed to capped level and have no interest in advancing their other spheres or an alt.

I also know that the world is flat instead of round so if you travel far enough in one direction you will end up hitting an invisible wall and that is where Sigil can add in a new continent or two via an expansion when the general mass approaches near the cap level and thus there will be enough room for the server population.

Housing will be in restricted zones, i.e. cannot just build one anywhere you want. I will wait and see how Sigil is going to solve an estate shortage if the problem arises.

Ah yes, I would really like to at least have the option of going to Lothenland as a level 1 if I want to, just for the hell of it (I won’t do that). It is the freedom of the game I really miss. (Maybe not some dungeons and raid areas).

Re: Hidden lands

after reading Greymain's concerns about the houseing in Vanguard turning into Horizons I hope all the plots are activated at the launch of the game or they activate all the plots at once in Horizons we ran into this problem after working on a bridge for 8 hours to get to the island the plots wern't activated yet and all the people that worked on the bridge were too tierd and sleeped through the server update and all the plots were taken by people who didn't help on the bridge

Re: Hidden lands

I quiver when I think of horizons I was a mason , helped build a guild hall and spent many Hrs on it. As far as my own heh LOL money went towards the guild. One of the reasons I gave it up. And the land rushes in U.O. . Eq2 housing was okay because you rented and could move ,like the idea of having trophies ,books , scrolls and a pet . I like Horizons because you could build your house . But I dont want land rushes and to be able to have the ability to own a house or even maybe house boat .
AS far as renting on a temporary basis from someone else that could work out also temporary Even getting a few players together to help build each others. Are there going to be guild hall we can build? With rooms for other members?

Re: Hidden lands

my concern about renting from other players would be what would happen if they cancelled their account? and what controls do they have over the property - could they delete it at will?

Re: Hidden lands

I think renting would not work for reasons Twla cited. selling properties to other players should be possible or simply changing permissions. providing rent or maintenence is paid or undertaken the property should be safe. I really doubt if we will be allowed to own more than one property. Guilds could own Guild houses and public buildings in towns they run.

Re: Hidden lands

Should just make rent and maintenance paid ahead of time, so it's kind of pre-paid and it's through the system; thus if the player doesn't pay, the player doesn't stay!
