To push the thread back on target, what do you guys want to see in mounted combat? Of course, with stability stat, there should be a chance to get knocked off your horse, or maybe even for your horse to get injured.

Keep in mind that combat would be both on land and in the air! Even now, you can get knocked out of the sky by flying creatures if you fly to close to an aggressive flying mob.

It would be cool flying and an arrgo badie comes at ya and you freeze it slows down for 70% and you flay away unharmed hehe

It was in the original plan that mounts could be killed (boats too) and you would need to do some sort of corpse run to recover them. Difficult to see how that could now work for horses but still possible for boats.

Of course if killed your horse could reappear at the nearest Stables?

i'll stick to horses since they are the first we can get....

mounted attacks- kick, bite, trample, and knock(knock aside, over, unbalance an attacker)

Aye, I'd love to have a fighting horse. If any of you have ever seen the Lipizzaner stallions show... wow, just wow.

speaking of which.. i was playing with mine last night... you know just by standing still you can make them rear? and then you can make them do the lippi jump(the one from standing still they do)

How's the animation for the rearing?

One thing (but probably won't see it) I'd like to see is if I run across a friend who needs a ride, I would like to be able to have them hop up on the mount behind me... like you see in the movies. But like I said I probably won't see that in-game.

I think that there should be two kind of seperate skill systems specifically for mounted combat. like mounted melee, mounted ranger, mounted scorcery.. etc. giving appropriate bonus's or negatives determining how well you can fight while mounted!

Then seperate mount attack skills so the mount itself can make attacking moves or defensive stance's.

Training these two skill tree's could open up a whole variety of special moves the higher level of ability that you get and your mount gets.

as for falling off, I should imagine a 'mount control skill' which levels up the more experience you get and the less chance of failing a 'de-mount' attack roll.

Mounted combat was *the* main reason I got interested in VG in the first place, to be honest. Oblivion didn't have it, and the only game I play that does is Mount and Blade, but that has no multi player.

Thusly I will not be buying a horse I think.

What about the other aspect of mounted combat. For example boats, Say you where just sailing along and a giant Kraken attacked your boat. The size of the monster attacking would depend on the size of the boat. Another idea is that a party may go out and hunt a sea monster. Maybe a White whale like moby dick lol
