Does picking your Race really depend on the atribute's to your class?

So does it really matter if one class gives better atributes for your class than another does?

Or should you just play what you like. And not worrie about it.

I think it is simply another factor in your decision making process. You must be able to identify with your character a frog race with +3 wisdom would not persuade me to create a frog cleric.

If I understand correctly I think you mean if one RACE gives better attributes.

Worst case scenario one race would have a 3 point advantage over another for one specific stat. What a character gains in that small advantage in one stat he will normally lose when comparing secondary stats. With each attribute having a cap of 18 points per level that 3 points can be made up through buffs and gear.

The fad now is Racial abilities and those seem to have a much higher influence in character selection. But even these are subject to changes before they go live.

Another thing to consider are friends you are likely to group with. Race defines where you will be starting so you may want to select a race that starts at or near where your friends will be playing.

Never have picked a race for stats myself. I always look at what type of background I can come up with and play a race that works well with that.

Ask again in 4 months and I think people will be saying "You must be race X for class Y or I don't want you."

i hope not... the game seems to me more leniant with that stuff as far as balance goes, just as long as it doesnt get to the extend that FFXI did im going to call it good, in ffxi if you werent a War/nin or a Nin/war or a Whm/blm, or a Smn/whm you didnt get a grp, ever.... it was lame i always wanted to try Smn/bard but nevre got too... and i know one guy that tryed getting a whm to lvl 75 w/o getting his sub job, and it took him 3 years to get to lvl 40... how lame is that... then again it was Soo hard to kill mobs w/ people doing everything "cookie cutter" basicly if you had one noob in the grp you died every few seconds... thats lame in itself

3 yrs to get to 40??? What the hell was he smoking?

My first run on FFXI was a Monk/Sam and I didnt go the Sam part until WAY WAY late in game. I just stayed as a normal monk. None of the japanese players seemed to mind really. And none of the folk I met that were from the U.S. cared either. I always held it down as a good group player.
It should not have taken 3 yrs to get to 40 pfft :P

But I dont see Race/Class being a big deal in the long run. It typically isnt, just so people dont get into the Race X for Class Y etc etc that you mentioned. It gets annoying after a while.

I would be more inclined to pick my race/class combo based on the Racial Ability than the racial stats.
