Experiencing as much content

I’m wondering how you are planning to try and experience almost if not all of the content in Telon. I have been thinking about how I would like to play out my monk over the lifetime of the game (5years) and will be playing on a one-character server if there is one.

I’m hoping that there will be an option to turn off the experience gain, as I plan to stop at level 5 and do some work in the other spheres up to about the same level as well before heading off to the next starting city of another race and experience all the level 1-10 content there. Once I have experienced all the level 1-10 content on all 3 continents, I would turn on the experience gain option and level up to 15 and do the same thing again.

The experience curve should curve enough at 25 to not need to turn the experience gain option off.

At least this is what I hope to do once I start my life, my main concern is the journeying between the starting cities. I guess I would need to be accompanied by some higher-level players.

I sure do hope that monks get feign death in the game as my intended play style will not allow me to be an active member of a guild and thus will be in countless pickup groups, so it would come in real handy for the bad pug’s.

Re: Experiencing as much content

I'll be playing one character at release myself but my intention is to play that character straight up to max level so I can experience the high end content of the game. I wont be rushing it this time like I've done in EQ2/WoW but I wont be dragging my feet either. I figure once I've made it to max level I'll try an alt to experience some of the content I missed along the way but thats assuming I can stomach the leveling process and its not too much of a grind.

The only problem I see with being able to turn off xp gain is the ability for farmers to avoid the TLC of Vanguard. I'd rather see farmers be thwarted than be able to experience all the content for a level range with one character.

I seem to recall reading something about feign death being in the game but not as a pulling tool like we used it in EQ. Im sure we'll get some more details on that eventually but for now thats all I know.

I intend to raise my character in all three spheres so expect that I will level very slowly. I also enjoy simply exploring the world rather than hunting mobs.

If past experience is anything to go by I will start another character once my forst is about level 35 then play both as the mood takes me. I never expect to reach the cap as expansions will raise it before i get there. Anyway will probably get involved in Guild stuff which detracts from exp gain.

Re: Experiencing as much content

Definatly take in all the sights and sounds, and then some!

It's taken my character five and a half years to see 65 (EQ) and at this rate, I may see 66 by New Years (mostly cuz they've done some insane exp stuff, unfortuntatly), but we'll see what happens after that. I have a feeling I may be exploring a new world before long. And quite happily, I would add!

But leveling isn't the priority for me. Seeing and experiencing the content is!

I'm going to be rasing my gathering and crafting classes first because I like the feeling of creating something that people find can find useful or it helps them out in some small way

I enjoy taking my tome lvling. It is always hard with a guild though to try and keep your lvls around the same. Hopefully the "fellowship" feature will be able to help with that.

Re: Experiencing as much content

The fellowship feature is going to be interesting to see in action. As a guildleader myself I've seen the level spread as people work to the cap really cause a number of problems. If the fellowship is well done it can really bring a guild together.

Re: Experiencing as much content

I plan to take my time, as I do in every other game I've played. I like to explore the world and become quite familiar with it before I get too high to enjoy it. There's nothing better than finding a new location that's inhabited by a new breeed of ugly and then trying to run away from those uglies before they suck out your brain!

Re: Experiencing as much content

Slow but steady is my motto.

Our EQ2 guild started with a small group of 15 friends. In the begining the idea was to stick within a few levels of eachother throughout the game. But you always have power levelers and people who cant put much time in. It didnt take long before our guild was split into 3 subgroups. I think my subgroup enjoyed the game the most because we took our time and experienced more of the game. But we did also waste alot of time doing some quest that were boring and the payoff was useless. But we did them, and now we know, and knowing is half the battle.

The fellowship feature does sound interesting. I hope it will keep guilds more united in thier gameplay.

Re: Experiencing as much content

I will just not even think about levelling. I'll log on, play my character and have fun. That doesn't mean i'm not hardcore (I am) but time goes by slower when you watch the second hand go by as opposed to checking back an hour later.
