Re: Ideas for New Classes?

Rather than the beastlord of EQ, I would really like to see the resurection of the SWG creature handler, suitably modified for the game world.

Perhaps a light fighter with low DPS but the ability to tame, raise, and use animal pets.

As an alternative that could be fun as well would be a pseudo-crafting class that just tames and trains mounts that can be sold to other players. There would need to be taming and training skills and some way through quests or taming enough animals to gain the various abilities that train a mount to be equivalent to higher level purchased mounts.

Re: Ideas for New Classes?

I think that the classes that we have now are enough to occupy me for a long time. After all, we can only have eight at a time, and it will take a while to max even one. That said, if anything does get added, I would like to see a summoner or a samurai-type class.

I don't see the summoner as using 20 creatures at once; instead, I think of two or three really powerful creatures that can't be dragged around like pets can. The summoner would have reaction abilities that do extra damage, but only work with certain combinations of summoned monsters.

The samurai I want simply because I can't see the ranger, or any defensive melee class, as the toe-to-toe damage dealer. This would be similar to a barbarian class, but instead of rage and similar abilities, the samurai would have situational damage moves. For example, he might have one that does extra damage when the samurai draws his sword, one for finishing an enemy and moving immediately to another, etc.

I guess mine are reaction-heavy, but they would be interesting to play.
