Adventuring group
So adventuring with friends, what's the one thing you look for in a group? Is it the Healer (class/level) the Tank (class/type) or as long as least someone fills the roles and you just find others to fill out the rest of the ranks?
Do you fill the roles more based on where you going, IE a Graveyard so you make sure to pick up a paladin or 2. Or whats the one place you rather look for adventure in. Dungeons or mysterious forests? Last edited by Nightfyre : 09-27-2006 at 12:07 AM. Reason: Wrong thing to post here |

For example, in DAoC, there were forests that were essentially dungeons and had a great environment, mystery, and challenge. In WoW, I couldn't wait to go to Stratholme, which really isn't a dungeon either, it's a city, and I wasn't dissapointed. In EQ, it was definately the dungeons. I'll never find another Blackburrow. I'm just sure of it. So really, it's very hard to say.

Re: Adventuring group
I usually look for a good tank since I tend to be a caster class and my wife is typically a healer class.
I also tend to enjoy indoor environments (dungeons) more than I do outdoor environments (forests) because it seems like indoor environments typicall have their ambiance done a bit better.

Re: Adventuring group
Chooo Chooo Blackburrow baby did someone say Elite Gnoll Guard train!! Anywho I usually prefer indoor dungeons, the indoor environments are usually more interesting with the walls telling more of a story. I remember the planes in everquest tho they were rather fun and wide open, but the closer you got to bosses the more inclosed it became, example PoFire, PoDisease, alot of the planes at the same time were pretty dead endish, and closed off.

Re: Adventuring group
I always try have a complete the "holy trinity" first and then fill out the rest. Because I prefer healer and CC classes that's one step easier to do. I like dungeons more than the outdoors. FFXI really really discouraged dungeon crawling though, camping was pretty much enforced.

Re: Adventuring group
I don’t worry about specific classes as in pick a paladin or a shadow knight?? Whatever tank is on-line and willing to join us will doand the same goes for the healers.(Execpt EQ1 for clerics of course).
The only class that I would really want to grab over another class anywhere regardless of where we are experiencing would be the master crowd control class. |

Re: Adventuring group
I tend to have or hang out with people who have far too many alts. So all I need is enough people willing to go and have a good time. We adjust the chemistry to suit our mood. Sometimes we feel like trying a tictac others we just want to go about and dominate the best we are able. with the more balanced approach Vanguard has so far shown this will be much easier. Always the first goal is fun 8)

Re: Adventuring group
I usually don't like to make the group, i like to relax and let the leader do the work. I like the traditional setup but I hate the idea of people not getting groups so I would be open to other configs.

Re: Adventuring group
I really dislike pickup groups for the most part. I play with my friends and guildmates...and I generally don't worry about the makeup of the group. In EQ I remember being the healer for the group as a Ranger...now that was a busy time. I think that adventuring with people you enjoy is more important than having that perfect group to grind out max XP. Besides, it is much more exciting and fun trying to beat an encounter withOUT the perfect group setup.

Re: Adventuring group
I prefer a good tank first. A good tank can cover a lot of ground. What I don't like is people who seem to always be afk or doing something else. If they seem not to be paying much attention then I wont group with them again.
It does depend on what we will be doing as well. Sometimes you can go with out a primary healer if hybrids can pick up the slack for a heavy DPS group. One of the best groups I ever had was Pali, Ranger, Druid, Me (bard) and who ever else we could pick up. Played with these guys alot. Of course the best group ever was 6 bardsi on EQ. All playing third level AoE while the highest kited mobs around the group and did dots. while one of us played regen, another played selos, another rooted anyrunners (usually only the last one or two mobs). This was before AoE nerf. Rao
