Re: Perception
Thats a good idea that would keep things fresh and exciting. I think Korelin made a similar suggestion in one of the other threads.

Re: Perception
The idea of perception comes from the games uniqe way to handle different mobs...they say that fighters will probibly be carrying more than one set of armor and more than one weapon..so that they have somthing that will be effective against a particular one...so to have perception is to know your enemys weeknesses...so it is imperitive that a fighter or any other tank type class be aware of their enemys so they know weather or not to use the fire sword...or a ice effect sword...

Re: Perception
Will be interesting to see which is more effective. Putting them into combat stats, putting them all into intelligence or a mixture. Would depend on how much extra damage you can do by being able to see the vulnerabilities of the enemy you are fighting and if it would be enough to fix the gap of the damage you lose from not having your primary stats higher.

Re: Perception
I do seem to remember reading that stats will have a lot more effect than in other games so allocating them will be critical.
one interesting question if you are in a group in a dungeon containing a rogue with high perception skills will his perception assist the groups or will they appear to be attacking invisible foes? If mob you cannot see is attacked does it become visible. Will all magic users automatically have great perception due to their intelligence and a Ranger poor perception unless they are willing to sacrifice strength, wisdom, dexterity to raise intelligence? |

Re: Perception
Hm, I would imagine once a creature attacks anyone could see it regardless. It would just be advantageous to see the creature before he attacks so you don't wander into a group of creatures that would quickly overwhelm you.
I imagine there might be diminishing returns and/or intelligence won't affect spell casters perception as much OR it will be a big part of being a caster is a high perception.

Re: Perception
it seems like you are gonna get alot of info from a high perception which makes me worry about the UI, it needs to display all this info in a way that accually works (as in stuff is where u think it should be) which is a hard thing to do, but im sure that they will get the UI worked out during beta

Re: Perception
I saw in at least one screenshot that the guy's "Tactic Recognition" skill had increased. That makes me believe that perception will have skills the way combat has skills. In these games you need sword skill to swing a sword effectively no matter how much dexterity, agility and strength you have. And if your class can't have that skill, well, tough luck. I figure classes will have skills that are then modified by intelligence. For example...
Tactic Recognition See Hidden Detect Traps Arcane Recognition Divine Recognition Combat Awareness I made that up, but you can see how it would break down by class. Now I'm just dreaming, but there could be knowledge skills too. A paladin or a necromancer might be able too /con an undead and recieve more detailed information such as vulnerabilities for example.
