So crafters and diplomats cant pull agro (thank goodness) but their gear could lower it?

Perhaps I have missed some thing but if the Sphere button is out must you now wear a complete set of sphere gear to gain experience in that sphere? otherwise a character in armor with a Diplomatic hat is confused!

Edit

At this rate spheres themselves will disappear by launch!

Re: So... is Adventuring required to explore the lands?

No Grey, each sphere gains exp by engaging their respective sphere's content. That's how it has always been, regardless of a sphere-switching button.

If one were to kill a rat, that is adventuring. Killing a mob would result in adventuring exp.

If one were to craft a sweater, that is crafting. You'd gain crafting exp.

If one were to engage in parley with a bar maid, that is diplomacy. You get diplomacy exp.

I think those are very clear bounds for which to define spheres and maintain them content-wise/

Hence, leading back to the original concept of agro: If a diplomat has low experience in adventuring and is wearing a froofy shirt, slacks and shiny jewelry, an aggressive bandit has every reason to attack that diplomat. I don't think being a crafter or diplomat should negate the consequences of delving into the adventuring world. An aggressive creature will see you as a target no matter what your profession is. A bully will always be a bully, potentially moreso to the guy that looks weak and unable to defend himself, armed only with a ruler and shears.

Re: So... is Adventuring required to explore the lands?

I am amazed, Vanguard is getting close to Horizons system. not that that causes me any real problems, had they sorted out all the bugs and used Unreal engine Horizons could have been a great game.
I can see mobs regarding crafters and diplomats as a lower threat programming wise. The level in various spheres is known to the system and could be sorted if it seemed a good idea. Its no big deal but I would like "safe" routes between major cities so that crafters can at least move around the world. Exploring is an adventuring activity after all.

A group could although I have never seen anything to say that caravans are safe from attack.

Crafters (and diplomats) should be quite able to hire protection and to benefit from that protection. If it forces people to group together, then so be it!

A lone nobleman riding to another city might be a much easier target than one with a retinue of bodyguards.

Re: So... is Adventuring required to explore the lands?

Well if you think about it, its likely that the lower adventuring level character is going to have a larger aggro radius. Today that seems like a pretty standard feature. So in turn that just means the low level adventurers guards need to charge more since they will have to work harder to escort their charge to their destination!

As far as the whole sphere system I agree the lines seem to be bluring and it no longer feels like the system is clearly deliniated like it was first described to us so long ago.
