Re: How Many People To a Raid/Group

They haven't given a set number yet I don't think, only that it will be multiples of a normal group size.

Re: How Many People To a Raid/Group

The current number for a full group is 6. I believe for raids, they're aiming for a variety of group sizes, which aren't set in stone yet. However, don't expect 70+ man zergs.

Re: How Many People To a Raid/Group

A group os 6 is a good deal... I really do believe that offers the most in group experiments. Just short of getting everything you need in there, but just enough to keep the battle interesting, and get some of the proper classes in there.

I also hope that the raid scene is kept to a minimum. Possibly 3-4 groups. Maybe even 5..but that's pushing it. I personally love to raid, but hated taking 70 peeps to do it. 24 seems to be a good number. Can get the right amount...its not to crazy on control, yet its 24 lives affected by a wipe or a win!

To venture a guess I would put the abolstue max at 40 or so with some raids allowing less and all raids adjusting to bigger number with different tactics.

Re: How Many People To a Raid/Group

To be honest 40 has proven to be a little small for our guild of 60 from time to time. I'd actually like to see max raid size set at 54. Either way I'd like to see raid encounters scale to the number of people fighting it. That way you can still run a raid with 40 people if you dont have the full 54 and have a chance of success.

Group size has been explained as 6-8 as far as I can recall but I imagine they will be making a decision on actual max size soon.

Re: How Many People To a Raid/Group

I think 6 for group size is considered the norm, but 8 would be nice too. I hope the raids arent more then 4 or 5 groups, I like to raid but hate waiting for 60 people to get their act together.

I'm in the same boat as most people. Small raids are just more enjoyable.

Re: How Many People To a Raid/Group

When EQ2 first came out, I thought the change of taking just 24 (or 4 groups) was great. I was glad to get away from the 72 or more style of raids from EQ1. Now that I've been raiding a lot over the last six months, I found that I really miss those larger raids. I still think 12 groups would be too much, but I'd like around 6 to 8 group raids.

I am still hoping they have raids at various group amounts though. So small guilds and large guilds can do raids their own way.

Re: How Many People To a Raid/Group

Raiding has always been the least enjoyable aspect of MMO's to me. However, I do think they are a vital part of the game. That said, I prefer small raids - 2, 3 group raids are optimum for coordination and communications. I still shudder when I think of leading a raid into the Plane of Fear in EQ, pre-pop. It was easy if people did as they were told, but the larger your raid (and we generally had 50+ people), the more likely it would be that some chowder head wasn't paying attention at a critical time, making what should have been fun just a drudge.
