We'll probably never see early EQ difficulty again because we're not such newbs. When they had the progression servers, I didn't die my first time until I was level 36 - I knew what was going on, I understood grouping, knew class roles, ect.

I didn't know any of that in EQ.

Contrast that to my first experience where I died several times at level 1. (not to mention that it took me an hour just to get to the Qeynos gates)

We'll only see that kind of challenge again with a completely new type of game - or one that deliberately tries to buck the conventions just to be hard.
