Im a happy bunny too but I hope the servers are stable opening day because me and a few friends are planning a three day vanguard binge where we take off work, set up our computers in my friends game room and do nothing but explore.

Re: CORE players

I love that attitude towards game play. I am a casual gamer during the week, but like to do some raiding with friends during the weekend when time permits. Unlike the hardcores, I raid to play with friends and work on group tacticts.

Some high-end raid content I think is a must in any MMOG now-a-days. It should not be a focus in a game like this, but fun to have it as a goal.

Re: CORE players

I consider myself to be a casual player - after working 8-9 hours - maybe spending an hour or two at the gym 2-3 times a week, you don't necesarilly get a lot of time to sit in front of the computer. But the time I do spend there, I want to be meaningful - and having that experience for me, comes from helping out guildies with adventuring or crafting them items for free. Having a free armor-service or weaponsmithing, only helps to strengthen the guild, if you're in one - and as such, gives you a few markers to call in when needed

Re: CORE players

15-25 hours is the norm for me, barring PC issues or the wife wanting to use the PC! When a game launches of course... well that time might increase a bit but it always drops down again as I realise I am playing too much. 15-25 is plenty for me and it means nothing gets missed at work or home.

But she understands that and I understand her and she understands me. So I hope to get a good 10 hours per week and sometimes up to 20+ if I take a few sick leave days.

You know how that MMO Flu can set in at a moments notice and keep you out of the office for days
I know the exact feeling, Bootstrap. The wife doesn't understand how I cn spen so much time talking about a game that isn't even out yet. I will be lucky to get four hours a night of gameplay in. The weekends will also be a challenge with my two kids. Also, I am in the military and will be deploying soon, so there goes a good four to five months out of the game. Another reason my wife thinks I am wasting my time. She just doesn't understand.

Hopefully, I can a find a guild that understands my situation as well.

Re: CORE players

I voted harder game, but meant to vote I hope there's hardcore raiding. (but ok really both) I understand about the limited time but passion for games like VG. It's been an age old battle about rants of "not enough solo content" and the minority hardcore raiders "there's not enough high end content" Like all games additions to both areas is usually common with game updates/expansions. It's been stated that VG will be the spiritual successor to EQ1. That being said, you can bet there will be more group/raid content. There are definitely times when I just want to quad kite hill giants for pp (ahh rathe mountains) or I only have a couple of hours and can't dedicate to a group. Those cases I'd like to have a lot of options as far as soloing goes.

Re: CORE players

Think I voted before I actually got the gist of the question. Guess I'm what you'd call a bit of a 'tweener'. I want a hard game, but my work hours and RL probably limit how much I'd LIKE to play. I'd like a hard game, but I'd still like to be able to jump in and play for 1-2 hours if I have limited time. Not sure I'll be able to get as immersed as I used to in games.

Re: CORE players

i agree with the guy above me.... harder to lvl then EQ2 and DEFINITELY harder then WoW. also, i am a hardcore player playing about 50 hours a week and would love for the game to give us players a lot to do... with Everquest, once you are 70 and have good gear ... i mean ... keep making alts is the way to keep interested... i need something more.
