Class Changes
Old news... but still something to talk about.
Druid is now an Arcane caster. Summoner is gone. Disciple is a new Healer class. I wonder if the cleric will be more like a Paladin (since it will be a battle cleric) and a disciple will be more like a cloth wearing priest (similar to the WoW priest). Re: Class Changes
We're aware of the changes to the class roles, but currently working on getting our various sections updated. Since we don't know too much other than names, a list of classes is still somewhat in the works. However, I'll yell at our class managers to hurry up

Re: Class Changes
I have no problem with Vanguard redefining all the classes rather than copying them from any other game.
Druids were nearer to shamans than clerics in RL. Making them Nature Mages seems perfectly reasonable. I have never played a game with a summoner class but I thought the justification for not having them was that many other classes will be able to summon... or perhaps I dreamt it!! That there will be no such thing as a pure healer class also makes sense. I really hope that a group of healers will be a viable fighting unit in Vanguard. I really dont want to perpetuate the elitist attitude to grouping found in many recent games. |

Re: Class Changes
I have played clerics in many different MMO's and what most people forget is.....you never, never can do a urber quest with out a healer? I remember in Asherons Calls in one quest we had one guy taking the boss and everyone else in group was healing. So you can't say I really hope a cleric can do something other than heal, because that is their primary role in the group.

Re: Class Changes
Rather depends on Potions. Also in Vanguard quite a few classes seem to have limited healing capablilities and buffs. Having a great healer along might not be the same in Vanguard as in other games. Clerics will crack heads as well as heal as I understand it.

Re: Class Changes
Taronn: A cleric shouldn't really should die in a MMO's that you have CR, it is the cleric's job to do rez's on the group after each battle. Potions are nice for people that solo often but won't help when it is time to get a rez . I love giving those group heals that heal 1000 hit points every 30 sec for 5 mins.
