Solo ability
Hi folks,
I just picked the game up yesterday and created my first toon in VG. I played a Beastlord in EQ1 for its soloabily as well as unique group buffs it brought to the game. A monk in EQ2 for its ability to be a better scout than a scout, and good ability to solo. Now I see that a monk is a dps class and am unsure about what class to play. I have always had the interest of playing a plate tank and being the meat shield for a group, but also desire the ability to solo when I cannot find the time or people to group. I don't want to play a ton of alts to try and find this toon. Can anyone suggest the tank that is the best soloist? I know this is a group/raid oriented game, and I do intend on doing some of that as well, but as stated above, I am looking for a toon that can cover all my desires in the game. I don't need to be the best at anything, other than ability to solo better than the other plate classes, if this is even possible. Please provide feedback as I know many of you have been playing plate tanks since VG's beta and early release and can really provide some insight into this. Thanks much for your time. Disiplin of EQ2/AB and now VG |

If you have any sort of healing class in this game you can solo like a champ. Even multiple mobs aren't that difficult but on my warrior 2 is the max I can take down and half way through the second mob I usually have to swap to def stance just to survive.

Healing classes have an edge currently but I find any non-healing class can solo just fine. You just can't do 3-dot mobs like a healer, unless you have very good to great gear.
My experience is with a sorc and a warrior. Sorc was easier to use well from the get go but I now find as I get better chain abilities that my warrior can effectively solo many around his level 3-dot mobs. Warrior dps is definitely very good and you can churn same level 2-dot mobs. At least in the teens this holds true. |
