1) Humility: Do not get upset when the DPS leaders get all the credit for kills or get those big damage numbers. Your job is to keep the mob in one place and looking at you. If you want to feel better, look at how little damage everyone else took. If nobody else died, and all the damage was on you, take pride knowing you performed your duties.

2) Constant communication with your puller. You have to have faith and communication with your puller, to know which mobs are coming, what is being snared / rooted / mezzed, and what mob you need to hit first.

3) Stay just on top of the aggro / hate list. If possible, stay just on top of the hate list, but save any special moves you have in case needed. It is a shame when a monster leaves you for your healer, and your special move that generates hate is on a cooldown.

4) Do not watch your health bar. This is your healers job to worry about, not yours.

5) keep looking around for wandering mobs.

6) Always let everyone else know when you are switching to a new enemy.

7) If you are also playing puller, wait until the rest of your party is ready. You are NOT Conan, don't think that you are.

8) Just becuase your healer healed you does not mean go get more mobs. He/ she still needs to regenerate his / her mana first.

9) If you know the party is going to wipe, do not run! You hold the mob until you die, hopefully giving your rezzer an opportunity to save himself, thus being able to rezz the party after.

10) Be nice to your healer. Give him perishable items that help him perform his job better.

Rules of the Tank

1) Aggro - Which aggro tools to use when. Keep aggro on all mobs with the right tools. Attacking is not always the right choice.

2) Positioning - Show those rogues and dps the back of the mob, make sure the crowd controllers can see how many mobs there are. Make sure you are not creeping into dangerous territory.

3) Targeting - Quick to target the right mob. While tanks are not always the main assist ( I would argue someone else should be, so the tank can swicth targets and manage aggro on all mobs) , you need to be able to find the target that is not on you quickly.

for Me as well as lot of people here # 1 is know your class but nomatter how much you know or think you know allways be open minded I played a SK for near to 5 years and while I knew tons I was allways willing to talk to other SK's or otehr classes about skills and abilities and just about anything.

# 2 know how to heal... this is harder unless you have ALOT of time or you have people that really trust you / vice verca... I leveld in my off time a cleric to better learn what one is capiable as well as played a few raid clerics from time to time to better learn exactly what they can and cannot do .. in eq2 I leveled 2 healers 60 + as well as played my moms ( who plays more then me as my parents are retierd )

# 3 If you cant or dont trust your healer dont join the group... yes we all know of the craptastic healers that just make one cause we all know they would never get a group if they wernt one... but in my travels most have been at least compitent... but you have to play to the level of your healer... Just because your a 4 night a week raid MT dosent mean joe you picked up in LFG is... just ask a coupple questions if you dont know them about what they can keep up with, with out blowing there wad every fight.

# 4 have fun... if your not having fun none of 1 - 3 means anything.
