That's not what I said - and I don't actually speak for the mods here, so take this for what it's worth. We have a very friendly and civilised community here, and many members (not just the mods) would like to keep it that way.

If you want to be able to trash talk and whatnot, which I know can be a large part of the PvP fun, you might want to check out some of the other server-dedicated boards.

Again... this is just my opinion. I don't represent Spheres.

on topic: was there just an enormous amount of flaming going on or something? It does seem to be a bit harsh to take down an entire server forum, but I can't say I'd agree or disagree cause I don't visit tenton often......or really at all

But yea to sum it up it's basically... a gigantic forrest fire of flame wars.
Look at it this way; in the forum they act like it's "flame or be flamed" just like how a lot of people see ganking in-game. Ends up without any proper and/or very weak to nil discussiond.

They should seriously just have an idiots section where its unmoderated, that way all of us can have a home to go to as well as drive up reputation for not being facists and also drive up visitors, members, posts, threads, and revenue.

Easy answer: you want a site like that, make one of your own. It's not difficult, these days. I'm not being flippant -- the beauty of the internet is that you can create just about any community you like, often without much or any cost.

Censorship implies absolute right of free speech, which is not the case on forums that are hosted. Forum admins/mods have the right to make rules for their communities, and disallowing certain kinds of behaviour, when stated up front, does not actually count as censorship.

Additionally, censorship was as common under far-left governments as it was under far-right ones. The whole "zomg this is fascistic!" argument is a little tired.

If you know you're supposed to be driving at 30 and you're doing 50, you're not expressing your right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness: you're breaking the law. If you rant, troll and flame when the board rules & regs clearly ask you not to, then having your (the general "you") posts edited or deleted is more cause & effect than it is censorship.

I have a great interest in the subject, and hate the see the real right to freedom of expression be muddied in debates that really amount to "let me swear and be juvenile on your forums, ok?"

In order to achieve its stated goals, a group needs some sort of structure -- how much structure is of course dependent on each group. Point being, if the structure of this group seems to restrictive for you, the great thing about the interweb is that you can make your own group, with less structure. All depends what you're trying to achieve.

We are an affiliate site, and will be moderating our boards by the agreement set forth by Sigil when we became an affiliate site.

A reputation for not being facists? Carebear mods? Frankly, the labels you are bandying about are quite juvenile. Like Ysharros said, if you want something like that, create it yourself. You are welcome to continue posting here but in doing so, you'll have to play nice. I'm sure you've heard your parents say, "when you're in our house, you'll abide by our rules."

Tell you guys what, want to get a crap load of more posters? Make this PvP section "Enter at your own risk" and then you will have all the people who left TTH joining up and posting, making the veratible wastland called a PvP thread a greenhouse of goodies with a plethora of content.

As Kethra said, we're an affiliate site. One of the requirements of keeping that status is that we must maintain a certain level of moderation on the boards that matches Sigils moderation practices on the old beta boards. We take our affiliate status seriously and therefore take our moderation seriously.

Past that these are privately funded boards that I own and maintain. There is no guarantee of freedom of speech on them though Im extremely lenient in what we allow to be said here. If you dont like adhering to the rules then these are not the forums for you.
