Mobs can still fire bows even when...

I'm right on top of them. Yet we get an error message that says they are too close. What gives?

Hah, that's one of my pet peeves too - though it may just be a graphical thing. If I remembered to bring my brain with me when I log in, I'd check the combat log to see what kind of damage they're really doing when toe-to-toe.

I highly suspect this is a graphical glitch in that the wrong animation is playing for the mob's attacks. I have seen this in Three Rivers where the bugbear ranger type mobs will continue to use the bow attack animation even though they are doing melee type damage.

which chunk and which mobs were you fighting?

Chunk would be Veskal's Exchange. The mobs were Velandil (sp?) bowmen. They are in 3 camps roughly northish of VE. Human mobs, 2 tents per camp. Their HQ is near there as well. Sorry, I will try to update with more specifics later.
