Re: Death Mechanic Changes – Feedback Thread
hehe...thanks, Asquinol! I haven't been home long enough to check everything out.
And thanks to the devs et al for filtering thru the mountain of posts and reaching this conclusion! I'm sure everyone learned from this situation...or I'm hoping so! I know we sure did here at Spheres!! *looks up her optometrist's phone number with her bandaged fingers* ![]()

Re: Death Mechanic Changes – Feedback Thread
Thx for listening to player's concerns I was really surprised that for once someone is listening to clients in online RPG business, keep this up and you may get a reputation that is attractive to players.

Re: Death Mechanic Changes – Feedback Thread
Yes, I am pleasantly surprised by this. I admit that I was not hopeful at all. I still say that the current death penalty system in Vanguard is the best one I've seen in any MMOG ever. It has bugs, but I believe they can fixed. It's no small thing to have found the perfect balance in a death penalty system for an MMOG. I hope Sigil will keep this in mind in the future.
I still can't play, though :/ I'm away from home on a long business trip, and my laptop doesn't have hardware support for the vertex shader. The game won't even try to load on it. Actually, I'm not sure I will start again when I get home, either. I've been playing the TBC expansion, and enjoying it (when I have Internet access at least). I'm considering waiting a few months until more bugs have been worked out, and more new features have been added. I'll decide once I get home. I will definitely come back eventually, though ![]() |

Quote:
What make a game different from an other game is what attract subscribers and this was one of the main difference between Vanguard and all the others majors MMOs out there atm and so one of the points that could attract new subscribers or even catch subscribers from others games that want the "feeing of death" mean something in their gaming experience. If you make this game like all others games, you wont catch more people as they will have to choose between more games. |

Re: Death Mechanic Changes – Feedback Thread
Rather a moot point now, I believe.
![]() The reason there might not be "a lot of subscriptions" (whether perceived or actual) could be that a lot of people are waiting to see if Sigil will stick to their guns and not cave into people wanting things easier and easier! I can't begin to tell you how many out there are leary of games for this reason: Build a great new game, be worried about the startup numbers so they change it all and continue to. One thing that drew people here was Brad's saying that they would do this THEIR way. Not necessarily old EQ, but (as said), what EQ2 should have been! Modifications to the original and all! Not a cloan. You know how many people got frightened reading FoH (for example) and hearing all the screams and whines coming from beta and other areas? WITHOUT even looking into it themselves!? Seriously, I wrote a piece about this way back when, and how it is a tactic to scare people away from a perfectly good thing! Without getting too wordy and stuff (like you don't expect it from me, right?), let's just say I'm very glad to see this position taken by Sigil! I'm hoping this means that CS might get the further tools needed to take care of the "bugs" that might hide or remove gear from inventory/corpses, among other things. And, I'm pretty sure the programmers and devs have been sitting in Brad's office, dreaming up how to modify code in a way that will clear up some of the other bugs without breaking other things! H'ZAAA, Sigil! And thank you again! ![]() Locking to conso...erm....move onto the next topic! ![]()
