DroxUI For Dummies

I read the FAQ and scanned the forums on vgsohinterface.com and decided it would take me a couple of hours to figure out how to do what I want. So I thought I'd ask and see if someone who already knows what they're doing can tell me exactly what I need to do in one quick post.

I love DroxUI but the quest log and abilities windows are HUGE in the resolution I need to run in (1024x768). (They also lack minimize and close buttons in the top corners.) For now I'd like to replace them with the default. Just those two windows. Do I really need to make a whole new directory *just* to do that?

What do I need to do to change those two things?

You would be better off asking Drox on the forums where you d/l the UI from. He can best help you.

Not anymore. He gets bothered a lot, and when the answer is in the FAQ that's where he will direct people now. I can understand why, because the UI is hugely popular and dozens of people all think their problem can be solved with 5 minutes of his time - which is apparently in short supply since he hit the modder A-list.

I'll have a look at it Flo - I've not gone back to the original journal myself but it can't be that hard (famous last words). That said, I can't for the life of me figure out how to change the key assignmenst - the problem with FAQs written by people who know what they're talking about is that they forget they get read by people who (like me), don't.

If you would rather use the default quest and abilities journals, I've included an alternative index.xml file in the DroxUI\NoBookIndexFile folder. Simply copy the index.xml from that folder into the DroxUI folder (overwriting the existing one).

What you'll need to do is find the DroxUI folder (standard install would be C:\Program Files\Sony\Vanguard\VGUIAssets\Shells\DroxUI) -- inside that is a NoBookIndexFile folder. Inside that is an Index.xml file. You need to copy that into the main DroxUI folder, overwriting the existing Index.xml if you want (though I tend to just rename the one I'm replacing - call it old_index.xml or whatever pleases you).

I've just checked through my own directory structure and the folder/index file are both there, so that should work for you. I hope!
